Welcome back to another series of ForgeHub's Community Favorite Maps! We've got a lot of nominations and winners to catch up on and will be releasing the communities results each week until we're brought up to speed. Here are the nominations and winners for the month of September!

Callister is a small, symmetric map themed after Cairo Station. Despite its size, the map contains a wide variety of engagements such as a zero gravity zone activated by players on command. You can expect long range combat in the sword lane with some choke point as well.

IcyHotSpartan created this 4v4 Slayer map in less than a week and it plays relatively well, considering the simplicity of the layout. Thanks to some experimenting IcyHotSpartan did with ZE, they had a wonderful aesthetic ready to be implemented in advance.

Geodime is a UNSC bunker mined from a supernatural stone deposit. Its layout fights amongst a strange landscape, open catwalks/platform, and interior bunker rooms.
Thanks again for being patient with us for releasing these results. Tune in next time as we'll be sharing the results from October!

Played all three, Yeti's map is clearly more interesting to fight in despite being a symmetric map. It's unique shape is very different from all of the two-base-two-tower designs out there. Hell's Bells has framerate issues last I checked, and Geodime has incredibly average gameplay.

      Good talk.

These are so good. It's hard to pick my favorite.

Your face has incredibly average gameplay! You're just jealous cos Bowsers Castle isn't on here. These are all pretty sweaty maps!

Sweaty doesn't mean they're good. It means they stink.

I've recently seen forgers do more work in their art than they do gameplay. Yeti made a good combination of both; there's just enough detail in the map to know that you're in Cairo Station, and he had enough space to implement a gimmick that makes the map stand out in terms of combat.

But the community nowadays will only look at the screenshot, and maybe do a walkthrough of the map by themselves. I bet the only reason Callister is even in the top three is because of nostalgia. You didn't judge it by its gameplay, because if you had, it'd be number ****in' one.

The only actually interesting maps in this line-up are the Infection map, the Quake remake, and the space station with a low gravity room.

If you're gonna do a community favorite selection, how about not making the barrier of entry at how pretty something looks?

This isn't a barrier of entry that's necessarily imposed by anyone though. The voting is left up to you and your fellow community members.

What you're hoping for (a map that's the best combination of gameplay and art), is something that should be recognized in the form of a Feature. Popular vote is always going to result in mediocre results, because that's what you get anytime to take the average of various opinions.

I can appreciate the observation that there's a lack of critical perspectives on gameplay, because there's a very clear void in that respect right now. It's just not a void we should expect to be filled by Community Favorites. Let it be what it is.

The barrier of entry is what the community makes of it. Half of the people voting wouldn't make a better judgement even after playing.

Community Favorites shouldn't just be a slayer contest. Let it go lol.

And the more H6 forge will improve and implement the worse this will get.
