Also, how to make sniper work in a 1v1...
Give everyone a sniper and force as many situations where a player is forced to no scope. Even if it doesn't really matter in this game.
For real though, if you want something unique on your map make sure you execute your rock paper scissors properly for that weapon and think long and hard on how you want said weapon to work on your map. This is something a lot of people don't think about because they don't come from basically making nothing but 1v1's.

Hey guys we're turning the grace period into an extension. Your deadline is now two weeks later. There will be no grace period after the new deadline. Use this time to refine and perfect.
The extension is overpowered. I wouldn't put any in my map.

Quick question. How important is it to have name locations? Should I put name locations in?

No, you don't need them. If you want it to play 2v2 also, then it may be a good idea. They'll be pretty useless for 1v1 though. Their main purpose is to serve as callouts. There's no need for that in a 1v1 match. If you have several areas of a map that look essentially the same, then I suppose they could be helpful for orientation, but if that's the case you're better off just doing something to differentiate those areas structurally and/or visually. I can't think of any other purpose for Named Locations on a 1v1 map.
I was wondering if it would be interesting if the official 1v1 settings included 'No Teams',
so that each fight would be different/unique. You would be able to use any armor color
to use strategically. I think it would be fun. There aren't really any "teams" in 1v1 anyway.
We discussed it but
1: dark colours can cause problems and
2: it breaks initial spawns

So I've never officially posted a map. Not in all years I've been here. Do I really have to for my submission? Almost out of principle I don't feel like I can at this point lol

just a few questions about 1v1;
-should power-ups be disabled as a pickup?
-is it bad to have multiple power weapons?
-should splinter grenades be banned?
-is it bad to limit the ammo on the standard pickups?
-should snipers and other 1-hit kill weapons have a set amount of ammo? (like 2-6 kills per)
-is it bad to have a lot of pickups on a small 1v1 map? (I was thinking it diversifies gameplay to have more)
-should shotguns be removed? (they promote camping on small maps such as 1v1 maps)
-is it bad to ask too many questions?
