    ******DISCLAIMER******
WEAPON HOTFIX MAY HAPPEN MID CONTEST, KEEP IN MIND OF WEAPON AND CAMO TWEAKS

    SUBMISSION PERIOD - 8 WEEKS

No grace period, timeline has been extended in its place.

    SUBMISSION RULES -

Maps to be made on/after contest start date

No limit to maps submitted/winners chosen

Previous contest winners, matchmaking maps, and forgehub favorites are not applicable

    RUBRIC -

    DESIGN: (Layout, Creativity, Theme)
    1 (Poor), 2 (Below Average), 3 (Average), 4 (Above Average), 5 (Excellent)

    ART: (Lighting, Aesthetics, Atmosphere)

    1 (Poor), 2 (Below Average), 3 (Average), 4 (Above Average), 5 (Excellent)

    GAMEPLAY: ("Balance", Spawns, Fun Encounters)

    1 (Poor), 2 (Below Average), 3 (Average), 4 (Above Average), 5 (Excellent)

No category for performance; let good maps place first and top maps can adjust performance later.

Wave 1: Play each map at least 2 times and give a rating. Add ratings up and each judge will have their score for the map. Take the averages of all the judges' scores for the first wave; maps below 9 will not be played again.

Wave 2: Play maps at least 3-5 times. Average scores again to eliminate maps that are below a 12

Wave 3: Finalists will consist of only 12-15 ratings, after which the rubric can take a backseat to critical thinking and more stress testing.

Must not move on to next phase until each judge has completed their required amount of games. This way you don't end up with people who never played a map

    Edited.

Also I put a blurb up on how ideas will be chosen.

May the least subjective opinion win ;)

I think once everyone has a good consensus and agrees on most of the things, then we can announce the official start date for the contest.

Hmmmmmm, how long should this contest run I wonder?

How long should the judging process take?

What's the deal with 'grace periods' anyway?

Can you forge with 2 controllers? Or is it too op?

How many maps are we allowed to submit? Do they all get to be applicable to win?

Are we accepting old maps? Or do maps need to be started after the contest to qualify?

I'd say new only, so that there is no unfair situation where someone had months to refine something while others only had weeks...

I could potentially help judge. I should start getting a little more free time in the near future. Let me know if you'd be interested in adding me to the list and I'll check out the details! Either way, I'm glad to see this happening.

I think somewhere between a month and two months seems good for the submittal period. Maybe just make it a clean 6 weeks? Start on a Monday so people will have the weekend at the end of the six weeks to finalize things.

I think 6 weeks is good amount of time. I think that's what the previous contest have been (Grifball/Extermination).

I would prefer the games run with standard settings

Framerate drops are directly tied to a main category that the maps will be judged on, art. Maps may score higher just because they look better and then down the line the art that helped place a map higher may end up requiring changes that in some cases can be dramatic. We should not be rewarding maps that have framerate drops over those who have gone through the correct process of forging their map to perform at 100% from the beginning. This is a forge contest after all and building a map with consistent frame rate is a rather large issue to disregard.

Also later on down the line the judging process will be put on hold while we wait for people to fix their maps. We shouldnt have to contact them and wait for them to find the time to do so. It would basically be an unfair advantage of extra time for submitting an unprepared map. Lets not forget that these maps will be smaller and forgers will want to do extra with their budget. Lets avoid the issue before it arises.

Last thing... i think i speak for everyone when i say it sucks to play on a map with framerate drops. Please dont submit your map with framerate drops.

Is there a limit to the number of maps we can submit?

IMO it should be closed to 1 submission per person until we have a better idea of the amount of maps being submitted. If its on the lower end i dont see why we shouldnt open it up to 2 with possibly a short extension.

My opinion would be to have no limit for submitting, but only one can be viable to win
