Map Description

  1. Pat Sounds

    Yggdrasil is a Forerunner extermination map named after the Norse tree of creation. It is part 2 in my upcoming trilogy of Norse / Forerunner extermination maps, the first being my contest map Helheim.

    The map was originally built with a blended Sentinel Beam / Twin Jewels glitched weapon. The weapon has been removed to improve gameplay, but you can download a prefab for the original power weapon here.

    We could talk about what period of Forerunner architecture I'm going for til we're blue in the face, but ultimately Yggdrasil is my own interpretation of the Forerunner aesthetic. Overall, I was going for a clean forge with minimal clutter and smooth performance. I think the whole thing is between 800-900 objects.

    Weapon Set:
    Dying Star - 8 shots, 60 sec
    Scattershot - 5 shots, 60 sec
    Sentinel Beam - 100%, 60 sec
    2 Tactical Magnums - 20 sec
    2 pairs of Plasma Grenades - 20 sec
    2 Splinter Grenades - 20 sec
    2 Frag Grenades - 20 sec

  3. Built from a personal perspective of ancient Forerunner architecture, Pat created an immersive space where nature and technology coexist. The dismal atmosphere becomes corrupted by the garish central lift which was beautifully crafted while the circular layout exchange detailed aesthetics and heights adding a fluently and enjoyable factor to the experience.
    From impressive visuals to a marvelous gameplay, Yggdrasil is a solid and outstanding Extermination map.

    The special Sentinel Beam is fun to use, and I like the ceiling and vinework.

    Edit: I can help you get that rotation to be smoother, if you want.

    Also, I'm not sure what you were thinking with the map name but if you were trying to condense "drizzle your yoghurt" you did a good job.

    Thanks everyone! This one should be making the rounds through lobbies as I refine it. If anyone has any thoughts on gameplay, lemme have it.

    Right now the biggest question is if the custom weapon is properly balanced...Obviously there will be split opinions since it is not a standard weapon, but I'm open to feedback in that area. I'm trying to do something different /creative but not at the expense of gameplay balance. So far it seems to be functioning within normal parameters, but time will tell.

    LOL I didn't think of it like that but I see what you mean. "Yogurt drizzle" is definitely gonna be the WIP name for my next map...

    I'd appreciate help if you can, my scripting knowledge is pretty basic. I have different layers spinning via ball joints but they still have a bit of that stutter effect going on. Lets get in touch on XBL sometime
