Volcano Valley Zone is a race map based on the level of the same name from Sonic 3D Blast, on Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn. The map is set in a volcanic environment, with pools of lava spread through the entire map. Crystallized gems and burning hollow trees jut out of semi solidified lava plains. Dr. Robotnik/Eggman has payed out several hazards throughout the map, including scorpion and bat Badnik robots, flamethrowers, and a fireball jump rope. Players also jump over lava pools several times throughout the level, one of which sends you through a hole and into an underground lava tube, with fire spewing up from the ground. Towards the end of the map players must pass Dr. Robotnik and his flamethrower pipe contraption. Race checkpoints are marked by towering marble columns.
