Nothing special just an island you can use to forge your map on
Looks good, the terrain seems natural and smooth for vehicle gameplay.
The scenery is nice.
How many pieces were used to build this canvas?
Before I start, this isn't an attack nor really criticism for that matter. And it certainly isn't aimed at you personally.
The big thing people need to take into account when forging these template maps is "how can people use this environment?". It seems people throw a bunch of terrain pieces together with no account for how core, infection and minigame forgers will be able to utilize the space. For example, Forgeworld from Halo Reach incorporated Blood Gulch into a bigger environment that could be used to design maps upon, using the well placed terrain elements. The central mountain of the Island has specific pathways that (with user manipulation) can become power positions as well as the tunnels that can be connected to bases or just serve as safe spots for ground troops, just to name a few. If you're going to attempt a map like this, you need to first ask yourself "What can my map bring to the community in order to help with their map creation?".
Bungie knew our forge budget was limited, so tried to provide a great canvas for us to work on with varying, tailored terrain designs throughout. In this case, you also limit the users budget, so its just as imperative that you follow suit.
Its a hard task and most experienced creators don't really bother using these maps as they provide little aid in terms of complex mechanics. Its fine if you just wanna make an island for aesthetic values and I think its great that people put in the effort to assist others. But to then go on and suggest others can use it as a template is putting your map on a very high pedestal which I don't think you should be aiming for.
I think you were right to play it down in the description and for new forgers that struggle with terrain, this is perfect. However, at the same time, these maps boast a serious statement. One which I would love to see someone get right.
Granted, I haven't looked at your map yet and don't take this as a direct attack as it really isn't. I'm not trying to belittle your work at all and I will check it out later on.
Its a nice attempt, Mate and I think you should reach out to the higher-up forgers and learn what they would need out of a map like this.
i see what you mean i just made this canvas out of forge world inspiration and to see who's better at forging to utilizing this map but i see what you mean thank you
What do you mean by that exactly?
my bad i mean to say like use it for a slayer map or vehicular combat ironically i have a elimination game mode for this and it works pretty well in time Ill upload it soon (terrible choice of words earlier on my end)
Terrain looks not so bad. 595 is a bit heavy with piece usage for a template though.
yeah im still new to terrain building thank you
Don't worry about haters, just learn as you go and do what you can with what you know! c:
I like the effort you put into this.
"haters" doe X)
Was it supposed to be a joke?
Please don't take any of this feedback you've been given as 'hating'. You got potential and if you really want to improve listen to these guys.
don't worry i fully understand that this is feedback, not bashing/hating
Now you're just hating. I made some typo's ok
I'm not hating, I'm concerned you're summing everything up to "haters". Yes, its an easy refute to any criticism but your wording was poor and came across as a direct insult as if my own words weren't constructive. Constructive criticism is formed to help people improve, straight out calling something "hateful" is a powerful choice of words and having someone fling it at me so frivolously isn't exactly pleasant. So think before you start throwing such terms around, especially seeing as you clearly can't double check what you've written before clicking "post reply".
I think this applies to the both of you. I'm not sure how "hater" has become so prominent in your vocabularies, but it needs to be removed if you're going to interact with a design based community.
Omg lol. I was joking. Also, I know I made spelling mistakes in the first post but I didn't realize you got completely the wrong idea. Sorry. I agree with you and that's what I was trying to say in the first post. Basically that what people call hating is useful feedback.
I'll put it this way, its sad I can't tell the difference at this point.
