After what felt like a decade, I was finally able to finish my artpass on Optic Prison by @purely fat a few weeks ago.
I don't need to say anything about the design, I advise people that don't know the map to check out the link to the original map post. Purely told me, I should post this version as a new map, so here I go.
The map bursts of interesting locations now, all four power ups are surrounded by a fitting atmosphere and mood. Damage Boost, red, is placed next to the ovens for example, where they burn the corpses... and sometimes prisoners to use it as a warning after a failed outbreak attempt.
Overally, this should help players getting familiar more quickly with the four power up locations.
Inspirations were the general mood and specificly the green rooms of the fire temple in Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the prison part of Riddick: Chronicles and a little bit of Kung Fu Hustle, where the main protagonist enters a psychiatry.
I wanted to capture the feeling of not getting out, being stuck. A place where they leave the worst of the worst, everything's dirty and humid. Prisoners are urged to work in the Uranium mines to shorten their prison time, which also shortens their life span. Probably the only method of getting a clear mind, though, in this disgusting place. A place, where insanity rules and the weak don't live long...
So I am asking you: "Are you a wolf? Or fresh meat?"
