Map Description

“The forerunners once constructed a temple protecting a site fractured in time. When the celestial phases of the sun and moon are in conjunction with each other, legends suggest the possibility of being able to shift through the fabric of space and time…”

Welcome to PhaseShift, my FINAL forge map in Halo 5. It brings forth a unique mechanic for competitive gameplay, making it almost a 4-dimensional experience in tactics. Shift or teleport yourself at will between different time periods to flank your opponents (Moon phase: a world encased in ice; Sun phase: a world thawed, full of life). Just beware, your ethereal presence remains on the other world to be tracked. Several pathways and weapons are only available in specific worlds, so use them to your advantage. This was designed for MAX 2v2 Slayer.

I have to give MAJOR props to @JonesSeries for being the mastermind behind the incredible scripting mechanics experienced here, and special thanks to @Ascend Hyperion's lobby, @Max Extra's lobby, @Unsorted Gaming for a special feature and everyone else that helped test and improve its fun factor.

IMPORTANT NOTES: There is a 6 second cool-down between teleports so people don’t spam it AND it provides an (albeit brief) opportunity for you to pick up a weapon. Halo 5 mechanics unfortunately dictate your power-up trigger overrides the weapon pickup ability when it follows you, so just keep that in mind in your team’s strategy. Also, teleports won’t function if you are wedged against a wall, corner, or inside of a “blocked doorway” (highlighted by tufts of grass) in the other time phase, so keep that in mind. This map took quite a while to perfect and I hope you all enjoy it! Stay forge-thirsty my friends.

This looks properly ingenious. I've not played Halo 5 in ages but this might bring me back.

wow, so cool. I like how different pathways are blocked off unless you teleport.

That's so sick! Made something similar for an Extermination map but this is cool AF. Very innovating, can't wait to give it a try!

Ah yes was it your Eight Pages Map? I remember seeing that you could teleport forward and thinking that was awesome. It uses similar mechanics ;)

I could totally see this getting into matchmaking for action sack with fiesta rules. Really cool map.

No, it was something different :p I meant about the concept of shifting dimensions, not the mechanic itself Haha Actually I kinda find it difficult to solve yours, interesting results you got there tho

Great concept and execution, the map looks fantastic! I have tried something similar once where in a 1v1 players swap locations every 30 seconds and so I can relate the amount of effort put into the scripting. I am happy to see you guys pulled it off. I hope we see more maps for this game type in the future. :D

Man I didn't even think of fiesta. That would fit this map much better considering it's hard to pickup weapons. Genius!

Thanks man. I hope to see more too. I think a 4v4 would be possible, just have to be efficient with pieces since the map is essentially duplicated.

That's heresy. Tom French is our forge god. Though SexyMasterChief is definitely the scripting king and built the system you see here.

In simple form: a trait such as alpha, bravo, etc. is applied to each player that enters the game and a special timing system is used to check to see if that person is alive or dead or which level/world they are on. Top world is "on" power state, bottom is "off". Each powerup is then scripted to follow that designated person around. A receiver teleporter follows you around too, just 160 units above or below you depending on which world you're in. Upon interaction, a sender teleporter flies to your location and shoots you to the receiver in the same direction you're facing. Then the receiver goes 160 units in the opposite direction. Also, a corresponding fx orb follows the receiver around so people know where you're at. So there you have it! Essentially I made one map, duplicated it exactly with different terrain and pathings 160 units above the other. Except that took me and Chief several months to get working correctly haha

This is the next level in a halo time period where most don’t think it can happen. Also, how dare you say FINAL map. I don’t care what you have going on, say it isn’t so!

Did you ever have the problem where if a player wants to teleport, the transmitter moves in on them and then if another player is in the line of movement from the transmitter they get teleported also to the same receiver? I had this problem on my game mode where I kept the transmitter bellow or above the players but then when a player was directly above you or below you they got caught in the transport as well. I essentially had to eliminate any map that had verticality. I also tried having the transmitter move in horizontally across the map to the players positon but as it would sweep up players more frequently it became the less effective method. Also, is there a reason you chose the maps to be on top of each other rather then next to each other? Sorry, I am just super pumped you two got this concept working. ;)
