D E S C R I P T I O N
Inspired by Dead Island's vibes of beautiful decadence and the stressful calm of a devastated beach, I bring to you Paradise Decay.
Paradise Decay is an Infection map that takes place in an island forsaken by all hope. The concept of the map was to bring that feeling of dreadful tranquility while being overwhelm by the infected on such a beautiful beach ravaged by the storm.
G A M E P L A Y
The main landmark is the Lighthouse that can be viewed from anywhere. At its feet lays the Cove and the Shelter of previous survivors that looked for safeguard.
At the other side of the island are the bungalows and the Sea Store, with a great view of the ocean. Behind them, the cave leads back to the overlook and the crashed Pelican.
Survivors spawn at the Outpost (crashed Pelican) while the Infected spawn on three possible areas. Survivors have multiple pathways and a lot of holdouts to contain. The Shelter is the first place in mind to holdout, but a lot of cover surrounds it; no lone wolf will bet his life for CQC against the infected. The cave and the cove have interesting sightlines, but one mistake and everything will be gone. The bungalows are small holdouts, with enough entrances to be overthrown, survivors might want not to go alone.
In fact... don't you even dare to go alone on this island.

N O T E S
The first idea was to use the 'Out of Tidal' canvas and place the map next to the playable island, but the space was pretty tight and it didn't handle the spawning very well, so I ended up creating my own island. I had in mind to design a beach where players can walk on water without killing themselves, I got the right Z coordinate to do that. Also, I designed the island to be kinda fractured, so it would leave the map without long sightlines.The player containment was hard to set because of the rocky environment, some clever players might want to reach the top of the builidngs and rocks, but that would not work.
The map features immersive aesthetics as epidemic assets, waves, floating boats, breakable paths and scripted lighting. Also, I put a bunch of easter eggs that Dead Island fans will love; some are purely aesthetic, others will be useful. Lets see if you find them.
