4v4 Slayer

Map Description

  1. Zombievillan
    This is a symmetrical map built for the “Forge The Fight”Contest. This was a map I started in the original Halo 3 but it was right before Reach came out so I never finished. I did end up making a design in Reach that was based from this beginning but it was a much different map with the advancements Reach had in forge.

    Anyway, it is symmetrical and has a fast paced, team oriented flowing gameplay in mind with the design. Typically, the layout and aesthetics had to be almost 100% changed from my initial plans because of the object limit, but I am happy with the end result. I was late to the party and didn’t know about the contest until early September so I was forced to forge fast and forge a lot lol.

    trying to utilize the original weapons as much as I could I kept rockets on top mid on 180 sec. There’s a risk/reward jump for camo at one side on 120 sec and a narrow platform on the other side for sword over a death on 150 sec spawn. here it gets tricky, both teams have a separate sniper on 150 sec with no spare clip. There are some great lines of sight and some good teams can have some great encounters on this map. There’s 2 carbine towers, 6 stickies total, power drains spawn I. The south corners. Regens on the north below the carbine towers, and a bubble shield in bottom mid.

    Another interesting feature I never used back then was a grav lift as a pick up. Back then it was too difficult to make a map inescapable so I never used them. I made this map at the very top of the skybox so the original invisible barrier works in my advantage and I save on piece usage. I had to sacrifice so much layout wise and looks wise because of the limitations of the skybox requiring you to build your own floors and walls.

    Anyway, feel free the check it out. It felt awesome to go back and work in the forge that started it all for me. I haven’t really forged a full map since the 2v2 contest we had here when Halo 5 first came out. I made so many maps in Halo 3 & Reach it’s not even funny lol. I had several features back then but I never did get a map matchmaking in any of the Halos. I was very close in Reach and it was a silly mistake that cost me my chance so I always wanted to try again. It’s not really a big deal now like it was back in the OG Halo 3 days but it’s more of a checklist I wanted to finish one day. Sure the money would be cool and all but I don’t expect to win. I just hope they would mark it good enough to get in MM. let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks! And I get it. But man it sure saved my back on piece usage. The blocks are so small for flooring compared to any other iteration of Forge. I think it works though.

    You could have more of the silver floor and likely use fewer pieces and pull off a more consistent art palette.

    It’s hard to pull off steel floor mixed with Sandboxes original brown palette. I only did so out of necessity but I actually like the contrast between the dark grass and browns & golds with the metal hints here and there.

    I would definitely prefer some bigger pieces than just block doubles & block huges. That would make a world of difference but hey, that’s why Halo 5 forge is as good as it is. This is where we started back in the day. My other 2 contest maps were built back then and we didn’t have phased object lol. I didn’t even edit them I just submitted the products from back then. They were definitely tested and played back then.
