EL B R O N C O
Nature had its own plans for this once prospering little town...
It surely did look promising to become a cornerstone of the Wild West train network, however... soon after the well was being used and the foundation of the train track was laid the town got hit by numerous unforgiving seisms and landslides.
For many a devastating catastrophe... but for some... salvation!
At the time, the infamous outlaw Johnny Guns, "the pistol of the West", was awaiting his extradition to Silverton in the prison cell... until the landslide set him free!
To this day, the duel that followed afterwards is being talked about across the whole land.
Johnny Guns vs Bill Hennington
As the landslide at that day was picking up speed,
the two were having a duel across the street divided by a huge crack.
It is told that both died on the roofs of the prison and the pub,
as they hit each other with each of their last bullet...
Now, all is blown away by the everlasting sand in this godforsaken area...
El Bronco is a collaboration between myself and Box Rippin. He made the design of the level and had the idea with the broken town, I created the art for it.
To me, it was important to incorporate the destroyed look of a Wild West town that was hit by several landslides and seisms. The tunnels of the train track are shut off, the track is broken down, the buildings are split apart and shattered. It got hit hard...
As always, I'm not happy about having to make the architecture in such a simple style due to budget constraints. Nonetheless, I managed a realistic look from a certain distance.
Though, I'm generally very happy with how this map turned out, especially the terrain and sand.
It was quite the challenge to get it to where it is now. It might actually have been the most difficult terrain I had to create to this day, as there often weren't the right small pieces available for tight spots.
From left to right: Church, Pub, Prison
In front: Train station (Red)
Thanks for reading and thanks to all those that helped to test the map!!
