Cartallum RotamHello friends, icyhotspartin and I bring to you a map that is near and dear to my heart. Some of you my recognize it immediately, others will have absolutely no idea what it is. Cartallum Rotam is the fourth iteration of my map Jackbasket from Halo Reach. It's become quite a fast 2v2 in H5 because of the difference in mechanics between each game, so catering to the new gameplay on the map has been a bit of a bittersweet experience.
I would not say this map in innovative in map design or gameplay; however I believe the map stands out visually because of icyhotspartin's vision and attention to detail. I have only attempted to do the art on my own once before, so working with icyhot has been a great experience.
Cartallum is meant for a more thoughtful 1v1 experience and a fast paced 2v2 fight for map control. The map is circular in nature with a central "hub" that allows players to cut through to different sections in a variety of ways. Prediction is key when peering down long sightlines and using the center to flank.
