Blacks Shore is a 4v4 objective map which takes inspiration from Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", more specifically, it is based on my interpretation of what the location looks like in the book, with great liberties taken to improve gameplay and the map's overall appearance to make it look the best it can within the limitations of forge. This map, like most of my recent maps, is a preliminary for something I might want to try in Infinite; this one is specifically built with gamemodes like One Flag in mind, a sort of Highground successor. The map also suffers from frame drops on the beach side looking into town but should't impede gameplay very much given how out of the way it is.
As for weapons (and a vehicle), the map features a Ghost, Shotgun and End of the Line Sniper variant for the beach side attackers, and a Hyrda on the attacker's side. The map is an uphill battle to the interior of the town, with a heavy emphasis on rooftop gameplay, providing the attackers with a significant height advantage over the defenders, but is easily fought over. Much of the fighting is focused on the inner town on Strongholds, but in theory, should offer a more widespread use of the map in One Flag; which I would like to have scripted on this map at some point in the near future.
This map was incredibly enjoyable to make and made me remember just how much I enjoy creating more atmosphere heavy maps which are capable of telling a story as opposed to arenas with a theme, and as such, is a trend I intend on following from here on out. This map was made with plenty of framing in mind, and with a personal challenge which I set for myself: create a horror-esque atmosphere without using a chroma box, nighttime setting, flashing lights, etc., and is something I believe I achieved with Black Shore
