After making two D-Day-esque type maps I decided to create a modernized version, or what an amphibious operation might look like today. (Also because I accidentally deleted my previous Invasion of Okinawa map, whoops). Anyway, this map is very similar to my other two invasion type maps, Omaha Beach and Invasion of Okinawa.
Game Mode: Amphibious Assault (in my Bookmarks)
Map/Gamemode Description: Infected storm the beach with weapons to kill/convert survivors. Survivors defend the beach within their bunkers til death or round ends.
Defenders spawn in concrete bunkers with a multitude of weapons at their disposal, including SAW's, extended mag Assault Rifles and SMG's, and rocket and grenade launchers. The defenders are unable to leave their bunkers and instead must defend to the death or at least until the round is over. The bunkers on the left and right flank can lock down their respective sides if the defenders coordinate their fields of fire. Otherwise, the attackers can swiftly rush each bunker and lob grenades down the air ducts or sneak around back and quickly dispatch the defenders by firing through the conveniently placed firing ports. Situated between the two flanking bunkers is a central bunker with greater visibility but diminished firepower (SMGs, Rocket and Grenade Launcher, but no SAW).
The attackers spawn inside AAV's (Amphibious Assault Vehicles) and must storm up the beach, avoiding withering firepower, and cooperatively kill the defenders occupying the bunkers. At their disposal is one Scorpion tank transported by an LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) to support the beach landing. Several weapons are scattered around the beach including extended mag SMG's and Assault Rifles, Gunfighter Magnums, and H2 Battle Rifles. Just before each bunker is a small slit trench that contains grenades and a grenade launcher or rocket launcher. While making your way to the backside of the left and right side bunkers you will find a shotgun to aid in neutralizing its defenders.
In all, this is by far my favorite D-Day/invasion type maps that I've made so far and I spent quite a bit of time on the aestetics and the entire map in general. Unfortunately, I was only able to test play this map just twice with only 4-5 people (10+ would be ideal) so I am fully aware there may be balance issues, especially concerning the Scorpion tank so I am open to any and all comments, concerns, and critisism.
