When I saw the announcement of the Extermination Forge Contest, I knew that it'd probably be a lot of fun to create a submission. With the maps being relatively small, there's a lot of opportunity to really create a pretty detailed map, something that is much harder to do when you scale for regular 4v4 gameplay.
I'm really happy with the sort of foreboding Forerunner feel I've created with this map. The relative darkness and fog is sharply cut through by towering Forerunner structures in the bottom of this sandy gorge.
The main weapons/powerups to pay attention to are the singular Grenade Launcher at bottom mid and the dueling Damage Boosts to the left of either teams' spawn. I've tried to create an opening rush each round that emphasizes your team making decisions about how many players rush mid, and how many go left for the Damage Boost, and the resulting potential for outnumbered segments of your team.
Huge thanks to @Duke of Mearl for testing this map in his lobby, and having players give me feedback. After watching the stream, I was able to make the tweaks the map needed to perform at its best, so that was helpful.
