2v2 Strongholds

Map Description

  1. Kreative
    This is a symmetrical map. I focused on making a 4v4 map and make a more unique/refreshing gameplay by adding a Binary Rifle and Incineration Cannon.

    I also wanted to make it so that weapons like BRs also feel like some kind of power weapon. So I added only one Light Rifle on the map.

    No BRs, no DMRs, no Covenant Carbines, just one Light Rifle.

    I also added two Suppressors, the weapon that I almost never use. But the awesome thing is that the Suppressor is a really powerful weapon on this map and I highly recommend using it! All the weapons on this map really feel useful, which is awesome. :)

    Power Weapon History

    In the beginning the map only had the Binary Rifle "Retina of the Mind's Eye" but the problem was that the weapon respawned before the previous Binary Rifle run of ammo. So then I switched to the original Binary Rifle instead.

    Later I placed a Sentinel Beam on Slayer only to make it more interesting, so it's not only a Binary Rifle. Some people liked it and some didn't. Me personally where a bit 50/50 on it. So later I switched from Sentinel Beam to Incineration Cannon. First I thought it would be over powered (OP) but when I played around with it I realised it might not be that OP, so I definitely wanted to play test it! When I finally got the chance to play test the map, I discovered that it was not OP, which made me happy! :)

    In fact the Incineration Cannon have a smaller blast radios than the Rocket Launcher! Even if it's charged up. :)

    And I also thought on Commendations as well, but I'm already finished with all the weapons. But I'm just dreaming that my maps getting into matchmaking so it getting a bit easier for other players to finish those weapons. :)


    Spawning History

    The map also had some spawning issues as well, so later I watched were the players respawned at. It turned out that the players respawned in the same location almost all the time. So I fixed it by placing 5 neutral Spawn Volumes across the map with only 10 in weight and I also took one Red and Blue Spawn Volume in there base with only 5 in weight, so there is still a slightly chance to respawn in your side.

    1x Binary Rifle 1 Spare Clip, 120 seconds respawn time.
    1x Incineration Cannon 50% Spare Energy (Slayer only), 120 seconds respawn time.
    1x Scattershot 0 Spare Clip, (Breakout only).

    1x Boltshot 2 Spare Clips, on disturbance 45 seconds.
    1x Light Rifle 2 Spare Clips, disturbance 20 seconds.
    2x Suppressors 1 Spare Clip, disturbance 30 seconds.
    3x Frag Grenades, death/deletion 45 seconds.
    4x Plasma Grenades, death/deletion 30 seconds.

    Really like the look of this map, how did you make the aquarium structure in the first picture though? Is there curved glass in forge now?

    If you add a boundary to an object, that boundary will be the same colour as the primary colour you have selected. I used a invisible blocker to reduce frame drops. :)
    You can also use joints as well. :)

    Then I added invisible blockers and projectile blockers around the boundary so you cannot shot and walk though that "glass" :)

    Yeah man, I'll definitely leave some feedback when me and my friends have tried it out!

    I've actually just recently uploaded a map called 'Wayward Alpines'. Admittedly I'm a noob compared to most people on here (only started forging in halo 5) but I've put a lot of time into learning how to forge, thinking about how maps play etc. It'd mean a lot if you checked it out.

    Unfortunately I haven't managed to have a 2v2 on this map yet but I have had a 1v1.

    The map looks just as good when you go in, especially the aquarium centrepiece.

    I like the multi-level element to the map, it means you can be quite evasive, especially on the bends, it makes the map feel very free.

    I have a couple of small notes about gameplay. I think it's too small for 4v4s but I haven't had a chance to test that, but the fact that in a 1v1 the map only felt a little spacious tells me that 2v2 is probably the optimum team size. I'd imagine 4v4 would be incredibly hectic!

    I haven't had enough of a chance to rule this out yet, but as far as I can tell there aren't any skill jumps in the map, are there? I might be missing something though. To me skill jumps are important because it allows better players to use their greater skills to their advantage and the skill ceiling for gameplay on your map would be higher.

    The only other thing I'd say is that perhaps it's a bit easy to just boost off from top mid to the aquarium area in order to evade challenges coming from the side with the pillars (sorry I don't know the callouts). I need to play test more but perhaps that too area is therefore slightly OP. I'm thinking of the high cat/top mid area on Coliseum where there's a small barrier behind your feet so you can't just boost away when you're being shot, which comprises the power position of the map. Perhaps that'd be something to think about, maybe not - it's just a thought.

    Overall this is a solid, beautiful map that I think you should be extremely proud of. I know I'd be very happy if I'd made this map. I need to test it some more, but those are my first impressions

    I agree that it should be more skill jumps, I use to add some skill jumps on my maps, but strangely enough I somehow manage to add almost none on this map. You can jump from "Platform" (on the half cylinder where the Light Rifle spawns) to "Top Mid" but I don't know if you can call that a skill jump.

    And I have played 5v5 on this map on the PC and that what quite chaotic, so 4v4 might work.

    And I will take a better look at "Top Mid" and try to make it not as OP. But Top Mid might be feel OP "only" at 1v1 gameplay. But I don't know, I have only played one 1v1 match so I can't tell so much.

    Played a 2v2 last night and got a better feel for the map. My friend who's a champion tore it up against me and my friend who are lowly onyx players haha. It plays a bit like Tyrant I think, in that flanking is really important and you don't know where players might come from. I think in that sense there's huge potential for tactical gameplay which is something that sets the skill ceiling pretty high imo, especially with how maneuverable and multilevelled the map is. I'll post you some footage when we've had some more games if you like?

    Had a chance to check my map at all btw? Constructive criticism is totally welcome.

    And I've also updated the map a bit as well, I added more skill jumps and more respawn points. :) You can now skill jump from "Pit" (Bottom Mid) to "Red/Blue Wing" (beside the palm trees).

    Hey man, so I managed to get a 3v3 on your map tonight. Unfortunately (kinda) it wasn't a close game cos my friend Joe killed it! He's been champion this season and got 30 of our 50 kills haha.

    I think the 3v3 played really well, so maybe I'm wrong about a 4v4 being too hectic!

    I was blown away by the piece usage, layout, and infinite modes of movement on this map. Not to mention, one of the best looking I've seen!
