Forge Pong

Welcome, to perhaps the most unique game I've ever created. This is Forge Pong. This game takes place entirely in forge, letting players use all of the creativity they want to solve a simple puzzle.

The object of this game is to move the target ball (power drain) from one point to another. The fun part is you must forge a contraption that accomplishes this task. Your contraption starts once a new round is started, and it ends once the ball stops moving.

The ball starts in a starting zone, designated by a respawn area. The ball must be somewhere in the zone (height matters) when the round begins. The ending zone is marked by a different respawn area. Your contraption, beginning once a new round is started, must get the ball from the starting zone to the ending zone in order to win.

There are a few rules. If you don't follow them, then your contraption cannot be considered an official win:
- The ball must be set to respawn at the start
- During construction of your contraption, you may move the ball anywhere you wish
- During execution of your contraption, you may not touch the ball and it must start somewhere in the start area
- You may not edit any objects initially on the map in any way
- You may not pick up the ball as the player
- You may not touch or delete any objects as the monitor
- The ball must come to rest in the ending zone for at least an instant to count as a win

Everything else is fair game. Make whatever you want using any tactics you want in order to accomplish your goal.

I've created the first Forge Pong puzzles on Last Resort. There is a different puzzle for each gametype except Juggernaut, which has no respawn markers. To access the puzzles, press start as the monitor and choose a gametype of your choice from the menu.

Here is a look at a few of my contraptions:

I can't wait to see what everyone else makes!
If this becomes popular, which I hope it does, I'll certainly make more maps, or maybe the community could make some maps!

NOTE: Due to randomness within the physics engine, occasionally contraptions that rely on precision will not work. Just start a new round until it does work if this happens. It isn't a big deal.

Post your designs should you choose to make any! Either film, map, or both!

Enjoy...

This is a cool idea, one of the most original I've seen in quite a while, at least on Halo, considering how similar it is to Fantastic Contraption.

I like your use of most all the different gametypes to create multiple levels. That makes the idea seem rather well developed somehow compared to if you had only used one destination area.

I can almost entirely assure you of one thing though, the blight of Forge Pong. This will not catch on with the larger community. People seem to mostly be of few types: Competitive, Minigame, Puzzle, and a range between. Your idea is extraneous to most all people, save for the few, such as me, who take great interest in Crayon Physics and Fantastic Contraption-like puzzles, where one must build their way through the map. If this does catch on, I'll give you the Congratulatory Cookie. Don't take my word for it though.

So do you have to transport the object without picking it up? Does this including picking it up to put it on your contraption?

Looks like amazing fun, queued for download! Maybe I'll make something cool, hehe. I cant really criticise the map as there hasn't actually been anything built.

One of my first attempts to get to the KotH marker:

It failed. =(.

Oh my lol.

This is a great, original, fun-looking, and altogether incessantly clever idea. Unfortunately, I fear it's far too honor-bound, but it's incredibly cool to do this yourself, challenging yourself to not cheat by filming it.

I'm confused on how you're supposed to get the ball on your contraption, though.

This is an...awesome idea. I love it. Admittedly, I haven't tried it yet, but it's 6 AM, and there is Marble Blast Ultra to play (been up since 7 AM). I can't believe nobody's thought of it before, it's a great, great idea.

I agree with everyone else. This is an amazingly original idea. I was a bit confused at first, but then I saw your pictures and I realized. Great job, I'm shocked nobody thought of such an original, fun idea. My god, I have to try this out.

This is sweet, amazing Idea.
Does the "Ball" drop when you start a new round?
You said you cant pick it up, yet you always have it on top of something in your contraptions. Amazing Idea, I'll have to try this out... possible feature here!

Thankyou all for your comments! I'm glad I'm not the only one to like this idea!

Let me clear up some confusion now...

During construction of your contraption, you may move the ball anywhere you wish
During execution of your contraption, you may not touch the ball and it must start somewhere in the start area

I hope that helps

Have fun everyone!
