Hello.
This is Sapphire. Sapphire is a foundry map designed with rave
gameplay in mind, nothing else. Rave games, are fast-paced, hectic
bloodbaths of flashy lights and carnage, consisting of light covenant
weapons such as needlers and plasma rifles. Raves usually last long,
but it's intense the whole way through.
On Sapphire, up to four teams are supported for certain game types,
but two teams are recommended to keep the ridiculous spawns at a
low. One of the first things you will notice, is the epic amount of
shield doors on the map. Don't let this drive you away, the shield doors
are meant to keep gameplay smooth and intense. Provided are almost
every game type (excluding infection and territories) with rave settings
set into it. Recommended game types are: Slayer, CTF, and VIP. A huge
thanks to Fbu for the inspiration with rave =]

Played it last night with Chips before he got it posted up. It was amazing. It was just he and my friend and I, but I could tell it was a fun game to be. I begged him to let me DL, but he made me wait *sad faic*.
It's a great gametype, and a great map. Everything's beautifully interlocked.
*Window slots using walls = epic
*Window Panels hanging from the ceiling for visual value = epic
*A core of power-ups to distract the soon-to-be-Needler'd victim = EPIC
I love it the whole way 'round. Now I can finally DL and play this crap with my friends. Crap, and I was suppposed to be studying for finals today. I hate you, Chips!!!!!!

On another subject. I understand that you may lot like short posts, but I dont always have a story to write for every map. I usually dont comment extensively on a map unless its really impressive. The people who make the maps appreciate my comment and dl.

I am sorry it isn't longer or has a story line attached. When I publish maps on ForgeHub, I like to let my pictures do most of the talking (pictures are worth 1000 words). Though adding stories sometimes does contribute a little more to the atmosphere during gameplay, it's just not my cup of tea. To me, stories enforce the forger's own sense of imagination onto the player, sometimes spoiling the fun factor. I like to keep the possibilities open, I let them think whatever possible about the map. One person may think its part of a campaign mission, another may think it's a factory of sorts. Sometimes it's just impossible to describe what the map truly is, and just to keep it a mystery. =]

But those gametypes, what exactly do they comprise of? Are they absolutely necessary or is it just an ease of use thing.
I mean, if there are a lot of changes, then yeah, I'm too lazy to do it all every time I want to play this map, but if it's only a couple of things, it's easier and takes less space to do it when i need to. If you get what I mean?
So could we get a few more details about those please?

The required game types consist of changes to starting weapons, grenade settings, custom power-up traits, objective capture/reset traits, special player(s) traits, and scores to win. It's quite extensive, and should be played with these settings. Otherwise, gameplay will fail.

It's a good mix of competitive and aesthetic and i think you must have a needler obssesion looking at those pics >.< 10/10
EDIT: Looking back i read about the "rave" gametype anbd realised why there was so many needlers. I think i might make a map which can use rave gametypes because it looks really fun.

I use Photoshop CS3. I am not aware of any other programs you can use for panoramas at the moment. If you would like, you can provide me with some photographs, screenshots, etc... and I will happily make panoramas for you.

My only reservations I have were the extremely high number of plasma grenades. Why so many? After i noticed it, I thought at first that perhaps I missed something in the description of the map, however when I cam back to check, I had to ask. Any particular reason? Surely even with 10s respawn times that many aren't necessary. I can't remember the specific number, but it was definitely over 15. Seemed a bit over the top, but perhaps that was your intention. Anyway, like I said, you've done a great job with this map, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your future work.

As Fbu said, "if your team is stuck in the base because the other team is pushing a heavy Offense, you can get out by the teles to break up their push."
I won't be posting on this thread anymore, because I feel I have answered enough questions. However, I will be updating the map post though as new and revised gametypes come out.
I hope you will enjoy. Please comment if you have any suggestions on changes.
