time available: 6pm-10pm weekdays, 8am to 11pm weekends
class: insane54's class because i have amazing forge ideas but just don't exactly know how to put them together.
motivation: i really want to learn how to bring out the full potential of my maps and not just throw them to together real fast, when i actually do forge i forge with great ideas in mind but they always come out horrible.
rundown: i don't know alot in forge, but what i do know is how to interlock objects make objects float, time delay, spawn placement, and weapon placement.what i'd like to learn is how to geomerge and how to bring my ideas to life and actually make them playable and look eye catching.

If I am given access, I will not leak codes to allow others in, and all information there will be considered confidential unless specified elsewise: yes

I agree that all decisions made by the staff in this matter are final and I will not protest these:
yes

the only regret i have is running out of ammo

  • Any official positions or achievements acquired at ForgeHub: Part of of testers guild, submitted a map.
  • Your expected schedule in which you are 100% sure you will be able to be there. If you are not there, you will probably be dropped from the class and/or beta testing.: I can be there any time between 3:00-10:00 central time. I think thats 2-9 eastern. Weekends are hard to plan because I usually have more important stuff going on.
  • Which class are you most interested in? Why?: I am most interested In Insane's class because I believe that maps are built on lines of sight and I need more improvement in that area. Edit: I would also like to be in shocks to, but if there's not enough room, I would like Insane's more. If Insane's is way to full and shock's isn't, feel free to move me.
  • How motivated are you to learning? Explain IN DETAIL.: I am very motivated to learn, I have read every article here on forgehub, xForgery, and azn theory when it was up. I love reading about forge because I feel I'm learning something I actually care about and will use in the near future.
  • Give us a quick rundown on what you know in Forge, and what you'd like to improve on or learn.: I know a LOT about forge. I can say I know all the techniques, I know most of the theories, I would just really like to get a more in depth approach on line of sight. Depending on how he teaches is, I may even be able to remind him if he forgets something.
  • If I am given access, I will not leak codes to allow others in, and all information there will be considered confidential unless specified elsewise (Y/N): Of course. Y
  • I agree that all decisions made by the staff in this matter are final and I will not protest these (Y/N): Y

Edit: I would like to be in shock's to, if possible.

Special permissions/Achievements aquired on Forge Hub: Part of the tester's guild.
Schedule: Anywhere from Noon to 12:00 PM EST on Weekends. And 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM Weekdays
Class interested in: The Remakers
How motivated are you?: I really want to learn for one how to use sketchup. But I also want to learn proper map design and other map elements. All in one :) And I really want to learn both of these key things that you need for a good remake and map.
What you know, and what you want to know: I can do every technique I believe, from basic Interlocking, to Ghost Merging, etc. I would like to know key elements that go into making a map.
If I am given access, I will not leak codes to allow others in, and all information there will be considered confidential unless specified elsewise (Y/N): Yes.

  • Schedule: 4:30PM to 8:30PM EST except Mondays, Wednesdays, and special occasions.
  • Which class are you most interested in? Why?: Player Manipulation. I create racetracks and wish to transition to making competitive maps. I am not very good at making maps flow well in gameplay.
  • How motivated are you to learning? Explain IN DETAIL.: I really want to learn good player manipulation so I can focus my design skills into kickass maps. Said above, I only make racetracks, and I would love to learn the skills that are put into making good competitive/ non-racetrack maps.
  • Give us a quick rundown on what you know in Forge, and what you'd like to improve on or learn.: I know interlocking, ghost merging, no-clip glitch, and save/quit like the back of my hand. If there is anything that would help me design a competitive map to flow better. I am interested in learning it.

  • Achieved ForgeHub Favorites with my map that I co-forged with AceOfSpades0707, Tetradymite. The map received mixed but generally positive reviews
  • I will definitely have a chunk of time available at 3-4 PM EST, bar Thursday, on weekdays
  • Player Manipulation: I have a strong desire to improve my design abilities through controlling player psychology and related concepts.
  • I am very motivated to learn and have shown proficiency in my ability to learn. I have a near-eidetic memory, and I have strong creative and conceptual skills. I am student of guitar/music, art and visual design, and have very strong knowledge of mathematics and science (for what it's worth). I feel that I have a bit of a deficiency in my ability to design effectively, and I would like to eradicate such in order to produce higher quality maps for the enjoyment of the community.
  • I know every technique currently known in Forging, and I am often called on by well-known and respected members of the site to aid them in their construction of map geometry. I am proficient in ghost merging, geomerging, interlocking, geolocking (. wat?), geomerging along multiple axes, interlocking, and sub-categories of the above.
  • I agree fully with these terms and understand that failure to comply will result in punishment by the staff against me, including the possibility of expulsion from the beta and possible infractions.
  • I agree fully with the terms and understand that failure to comply will levy consequences against me.

Special permissions/Achievements aquired on Forge Hub: I haven't aquired any achievements or special permissions yet, but I intend on aquiring something.
Schedule: 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. (GMT)(3:00-9:00 P.M. CST). There may be an hour where I'm not online around 6:00 P.M. (CST) because I will have to eat dinner with my family.
Class interested in: Steps Towards Map Design Mentality.
How motivated are you?: I have always wanted to learn to forge well. I have tried many times, to many to count, to try to make a good map, but I have not been able to make a very balanced or a very good map in any way. So I am hoping to be one of the chosen to partake in a class. I can promise you that I will show up for every single class.
What you know, and what you want to know: I know mostly all of the current forge glitches today, and I would like to learn how good maps are designed, and how I could learn to design fun and great maps.
If I am given access, I will not leak codes to allow others in, and all information there will be considered confidential unless specified elsewise (Y/N): Yes, absolutely.
I agree that all decisions made by the staff in this matter are final and I will not protest these (Y/N): Yes.

Good luck to everyone else, I hope you all get chosen!

For those interested in my course, here are the course objectives I hope to teach throughout:

Course Overview:
Being able to remake a map is a skill that few people truly appreciate. A thorough understanding of map design is needed to properly remake a map so as to include all important aspects of the original while still making it feel unique and appreciated in its own regard. Remaking a map is one of the best ways to learn the forging basics, from proper map planning, correct forging techniques, and a thorough understanding of map design elements.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, it is expected that the student will have:
-Learned how to use SketchUp properly in map preparation stages
-Proper Canvas selection and work attitude
-Basic to Advanced forging techniques
-Map Design theory basics (Risk v Reward, LoS, Weapon placement, spawn placement)
-Understanding Halo 3 gameplay and how it relates to other games (Halo1,2, CoD, Quake series)

Course Outline:
For this course 5 students will be selected to help remake a very popular Quake 3 map: Campgrounds. I feel that this map is well within the realm of remake-ability but will require some creativity and dedication to ensure it will be completed successfully. The course will be setup in 3 stages.

The first stage is planning. For this stage the student will be required to have a computer that can run Quake Live, (windows PC, mac OSX 10.4 or greater, and certain linux builds are now supported): www.quakelive.com They will sign up for a free account, load up quake live, start a practice Duel match, set to I Can Win for 30 minutes on Campgrounds, and analyze the map. Once a good understanding of the map layout is achieved a SketchUp model will be created. This will be an instructional approach to SketchUp so previous experience with using SketchUp is not required, but recommended.

Once the SketchUp is completed a canvas will be selected. An explanation of the different kinds of Canvases will be included as well as a detailed explanation to Budget Glitched canvases and working with OLN objects. Other techniques to get the most out of your canvas will be examined. A basic overview of interlocking, Geomerging, Ghost merging, etc will be included in this session.

After the basics have been covered it will be expected that the team of students will be working together to finish the map. I will be giving advice during the building process and examining your work to ensure everything runs smoothly. It is expected that each pupil puts in ~1 week of work to ensure a timely map completion.

Once the map is completed we will be examining proper weapon and spawn placement. As this is a remake some things will already be done for us, but analysis of the weapon placement will be given. A thorough explanation of the spawn system will be included as well as instructions on proper placement.

Testing will be performed after the build has been completed to teach students what to look for when testing a map, as well as the ability to receive constructive criticism.

Sessions will be determined based on availability. The instructor is available from 6pm MST to 10PM M-F and for most of the weekend.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like further explanations
