Advanced Techniques on Pre-DLC
A new look at the ancient maps

I think we may have been lurking in this forum and have MattDGiant's Pre-DLC Contest. If you saw the Results thread, you will notice that a map I don't have anymore called Dialated was geomerged and interlocked nad won second place. I will now teach you how to use my techniques in a simple way. The bad thing about these techniques is you lose all of your teleporters and weapon holders. Last Resort is the best place for these techniques.

PICTURES WILL BE UP SOON

Interlocking
  1. Place an OPEN Container on the ground
  2. Place teleporters on the sides that are not the sides the object will be interlocked at. Leave the opposite side of the interlock spot open.
  3. Place a teleporter on the floor of the box.
  4. Set the box to not spawn and save and quit float a reciever against the wall of the container that the box will be interlocked at.
  5. Squirm another open box so the reciever is against one of the walls.
  6. Support that with teleporters like you did the first one.
  7. Spawn the other box and if they didn't fly apart, you have an interlocked floor or extended tunnel.
MS paint tutorial from Boyle06 based off of my tutorial:

You can also just put a container down and place a couple of pallets stacked up and place a barrier against the container so the short side is against it. Have the container not spawn and start a new round. move the barrier in a little bit so you have what would be a small ledge to jump up. Spawn the container and you don't have to brace anything. you just have a small ledge to jump off of.

* You must use open containers for interlocking.

Geo-Merging

1. Place a Container (a closed one preferably) on the ground.
2. Put recievers as braces around the box.
3. Set the box to not spawn.
4. Place a crate and a small crate on top of each other in the center of the"Reciever square".
5. Place a reciever on the boxes and delete the boxes.
6. Spawn the container and it should slide down into the ground. Tap "A" on the box and it will spawn there from now on.

There you have it. My short tutorial on Advanced techniques on Pre-DLC maps. Pics will be up soon. Thanks to Boyle06 for the temporary MS paint pictures

to geomerge, you can do the same thing pretty much just place a teleporter to the height you need. Last resort is the easiest because of the huge clunky containers

I'll give these techniques a try tomorrow. For now, it's about sleepy time.

Great guide. I couldn't wait so I tried the geo-merging immediately. Worked pretty well. Wasn't perfect because I did it in a hurry but amazing. And I didn't try the interlocking because it's only for open-containers. Why is that?

the interlocking works with open containers because you can have the piece that holds them together inside and virtually invisible.

Very nice job with the guide sir. It is well written and easy to follow. The pictures are primitive but actually very helpful. I never knew how to do this so thank you for teaching me. I will try this when I get my new copy of Halo shipped in.
