Default Making of a map!!

Hey i've had the idea for a while that i would do a making of a map thread but i would have had to start in the middle of a map. The goal of this thread is to provide newcomers an example of the amount of time and care that goes into a good map. Maybe some more experienced forgers can gain somthing from it. Every day that i add somthing to the map i'll update with a daily journal entry explaining what i accomplished and what i plan on doing next. Every journal entry will have pictures to show the progress. Okay on to the details. The map i am forging is called crevice and is forged entirely over the chasm in avalanche.

Day one (november 8th)

After a tough long day of forging i am glad to know that i accomplished alot. Although i did not add many physical features to the map i found out exactly what i am going to do and how i am going o do it. I think the way the caves are organized i could make a really amazing one flag. And by that i mean the caves are arranged perfectly. The attackers side, the lower man cannon, has a meandering hallway which protects them from gunfire as soon as the game starts and then they charge. The defenders arrangment is nearly perfect to. they have the high ground, the room their flag is in is perfect for holding a flag, and their walkway has enough room for some structures/ turrets. One might ask how you can have capture the flag when there is mancannons that bring you to the flag and back to your return in 9 seconds. Well the answer is that i've overloaded the man cannons. Temporarilly, or at least until i decide to geomerge a double box into them and making them unusable. No overloading the man cannons is not modding it is just a glitch, like geomerging so don't flame me. Overloading the man cannons proved quite efficient seeing as it isn't going to last forever.

Here's what i got done to the defenders base. Two turret boxes to help defend from opponets. The turrets only spawn once so eventually the attackers will prevail. it all depends on the skill of the attackers.

Here is a closer look at the turrets. check out the barriers. they're floating 1 1/2 wall lenghts above one another. this is my attempt to add some aestetics into gameplay. Hope you like it.

And here is a picture looking down the barrel of the turret. I angled the turret like this so that the defenders have a good angle on the attackers walkway. also notice that the man cannons are overloaded and don't work.

Day two (novemeber 9th)

Very tough day of forging i made a large walkway on crevice and i made another map on the pit called Crossfire V2. not much done to crevice today so i'm not going to post pictures.
