Default picture FX fo map posting

//:ICICLES://

After experimenting with making icicles/ snow for my upcoming map Crevice i have found he perfect solution using two programs. GIMP and PAINT. I will update this thread every week with another effet for anybody who wants to to put in their map post. By that i mean the main picture a lot of people have with the map name on it. Take a look at my map process if you want an example. The picture with the neon effects is the opening picture. As you can see this might be helpful in an avalanche/ snowbound map

Okay on to the directions, in green
Difficulty:Intermediate
(in order to look professional)

Step one: In gimp on your toolbox and change the background color to white. To do this go below all the tools and there should be two boxes. one white one black. change the foreground one to white.

Step two: Still in gimp using the airbrush make an icicle like shap being careful not to do the same shade of white everywhere. This detracts from realism in which the shades are not even. (this is a lot easier than it sounds.)
Like so

Step three: NOW IN PAINT, go to View>zoom>Custom zoom>400% I use 400% but you can use what ever seems comftarable to you. Select the paintbrush and a light blue color much like mine, to outline your icicles. This part is also easier than it sounds. Once you are down to where you can easily make out individual pixels then outlining all your icicles should be easy.
Like so

Step four: save it as a jpg. image. You can now use photobucket to retrieve your image and paste it on your thread.

step five: Watch as your killer opening picture atracts many downloads and feel pleased with yourself.

Giv me comments on what FX you want to see next week. And if you use this in your map post then please give me a small thanks for the find. Please note that these two pctures are not mine they are just the best i could find.

to be honest those arent very cool effects? I for one like the regular effects made from just using equipment or different blasts on halo.

I don't mean for halo 3 screenshots, i mean like for the opening picture of your map. Like this.
