"Forge Like A PRO" contest

Haven’t you heard? The Mythic map pack is being put on hold until early 2009. Also we are in closing weeks of the MLG pro circuit ’08 season. One might be tempted to take a long winter nap in the offseason... Unless there was some sort of contest!

Preventing a community of forgers from falling into hibernation Kon Artist and Fritzster are pleased to announce the "Forge like a Pro" contest! They’ve designed this forge contest to revitalize the community and to help it get their creative juices flowing once again. Kon Artist and Fritzster encourage Forgers of all kinds to forge new foundry maps that are built with competitive game play in mind.


Juicy details as follows:

Map Categories:

Two-Base:
Map that contains one line of symmetry or multiple lines of symmetry of two bases.

Four-Base:
Map that contains one line of symmetry or multiple lines of symmetry of four bases.

Asymmetric:
Map that contains free flowing transitions where no mirrored replication is seen throughout the map, yet remain balanced.

Rules:

1. All maps must have not been completed before Oct 1st 2008.
2. All maps must be built in foundry.
3. All maps must be within budget.
4. All maps must follow MLG guide lines unless you feel creative (use non MLG standard weapon sets at own risk). **
5. All maps must be fit and set for 8 players.
6. All maps must be set up for Team Slayer; King of the Hill, Oddball and Capture the flag (Multi Flag or One Flag). FFA (free for all) and all other Halo 3 gametypes are optional but encouraged.


Prizes:

• Grand Prize of 1600 Microsoft points per category. Negotiable prize of equal worth if outside US residence **
• Honorable mentions of runners up

FAQ:

Q: How much does it cost to enter?
A: its FREE!!! (you might want to tell Fritz thank you as well)

Q: How many times may I enter?
A: as many as you’d like.

Q: Can I enter and win all three categories?
A: yes, qualities over quantity mind you.

Q: Can I forge with a partner?
A: sure, prize goes to one submitter.

Q: Can I use part of someone elses' map i.e. the back wall?
A: no.

Q: Will Kon and Fritz participate in the contest? “O Noes!”
A: we will both participate in the contest; no we are not "entering".

Q: Do I need to let you know if I update my map? (i.e. v2, or v3 etc.)
A: NO, as long as you update your MLG Thread with a link to your file share. We will play the most recent version.

Q: Does it hurt me to enter early?
A: NO, It just make it easier for me to update the data base.

Q: BUT, if I enter early someone could copy me?!?
A: If we feel that you have been more than just "inspired" by someone else....Banned from contest.

Q: Why are you only taken MLG maps?
A: We like MLG:)

Q: I have a great idea, can you guys help me?
A: Lol. that would just be unfair.

Q: When is the last second I can enter a map?
A: Jan. 1st 2009 at 12 midnight PST

Q: How will you choose the winners?
A: We will play the map.

Q: When does play testing start?
A: Jan. 2nd 2009

Q: Can I play test with you guys.
A: No, I have players ready to play test-- and they are all very good.

Q: Do you recommend I look at and play maps that have been submitted?
A: Yes, know your competition.

Q: What glitches can use?
A: All, but Budget glitch.

Q: Why do I have to make in foundry?
A: You don't, but if you want your map to be considered. . .

Q: How do I submit a map?
A: that’s easy… Post your map in the MLG map forums-- Follow ForgeHub Guild lines. Post here-- a link to your original map thread, your name and what category you are entering.

• Name of your map
• The Creator(s)
• Category of Map (2-base, 4-base or Asymmetrical)

this is a great idea. I would consider having it moved to a more popular area, just because I don't think many people come in the MLG forum. correct me if i'm wrong. I will enter though.

that is one of the main reason for this being here-- To help this MLG area of the forums see a little more traffic. Most poeple will find out about the contest soon enough. And you could always tell your friends.
