Text support?

I can never seem to have a nice text effect, such as Lock's or Zero's. Could anyone tell me how or some tips? :D (no mention of "just use overlay" please o3o)

I miss Halo 1, you could have a sniper as your primary, to take out grunts and elites, and an even stronger pistol as your secondary, for those hunters, sword elites, and floods.

Depends on what you are going for.

My favorite method is duplicating my text layer. I then set the brightness all the way down, and contrast all the way up, so it is purely gray, allowing me to color correct it to any color. (I'm using GIMP btw, but this should carry over to photoshop). Once I get my color, I use Gaussian blur, set to about 15 for both X and Y. Now, I duplicate this modified text layer, and place one over the initial text layer, and the other below. Then I use opacity and other overlay filters (such as hardlight) until I get it how I want. Then just merge those together 3 layers, and place as you please.

This is exceptionally simple, and not at all complex, but I find it gets the job done in many cases.

In Photoshop, my trick was to use the additional graphics effects. I'm not sure what the official name is, but that's what it sounds like. Anyways, open the menu up, and the ones like embossing, bevel, and etc., use those to great effect. Then profit.

Well, in my current sig i want the text to be light and stand out more. I want it almost like a white/blue gradient maybe. Any other suggestions or whatever other stuff you would still help <3

Simple fonts is the way to go imo. Experiment with itallics and capitalising, play with tracking (in the character panel) and things like that.

Impact, 20pt, tracking -100

Arial, 10pt, tracking +200

Doesn't have all be visable either, place it at the bottom of the sig so some gets cut off and things like that
