The Gimp: Shiny/Chrome Effect(Help)

Hey.
I was about to start making a wallpaper when I realized I didn't know how to make shiny/chrom lines etc...This is a key factor to my wallpaper, and i'd really appreciate it if someone helped me out.
If you don't know how to do that, you could also help by telling me how to cause a reflection/glow (so it looks like it's reflecting what's new it).

kinda of but i was looking for more a of a border not button...the shape has to be able to variate

You can make a logo with script fu which is the effect i think your looking for



Also in FX-Foundry there is Alpha to Logo,Chromium.

xtns,logos,chrome
xtns,fx-foundry,logos,chrominium
Or open a layer and go to fx-foundry.I have MacGimp so it may be different.Im sure you can make borders with it.Just play around with it.
