Tutorial: Panorama

Here's a quick way to make a panorama. Using a panorama can show a larger scale battle scene that normal picture wouldn't be able to. I'd like to submit a short easy to follow tutorial for Photoshop users.

Step 1. Find a nice scene that you would like to get a panoramic shot of.

Step 2. Make sure you get the correct angle for your shot. Find an angle that you would be able to rotate the camera left and right and would show the whole scene.

Step 3: Each picture should include 30% to 45% of the first picture taken. In order to create a panorama, you need to take a series of pictures that can show the whole screen.

The technique needed to use to get this shot is moving the camera left to right (or vice-versa) or for a vertical shot scroll the camera up and down (or vice-versa). Each shot should include, as said before, 30 to 45% of the picture before that. The reason that you need that percentage of the picture in each is so the program could match the correct parts to each image. WARNING: Do not move the camera with the left stick. Only use the right stick for pictures. Also, do not move up and down if you are getting a horizontal shot or vice-versa for vertical shots.

Step 4: Download the pictures on to your computer from your Bungie.net profile. Get the Hi Def version. Open Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS3 and it has a neat sub-program called Photomerge. Run Photomerge that is under File> Automate> Photomerge. Choose the pictures that you want to put in the panorama. It will ask you what type of projection that you would like it at. I always use Auto, so I recommend using that. Now after you run it, it will take either a little while or sometime for it to put the images together.

Step 5: After it puts the images all together flatten it. You will get a strangely shaped picture as a final image. To get it rectangular, you need to crop it. Make sure it's perfectly squared off. After it's cropped you can do what ever you like. You can use this idea for a map title picture, to show a large battle scene off that has a lot of chaos, or even for a signature.

This is what I got after I tried this out. It's a battle scene of my friend and myself quickly dispatching two people in a team doubles match. I threw a power drain and my friend threw a grenade. Instant double kill and game win. Epic moment. Anywho, I just wanted to put this out there. Maybe someone will use it, maybe not. I hope it's helpful. Post a question if you need help with it.
