Saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince today. Classic Harry Potter movie. They really captured friendship, love, and compassion in this movie. Plus teenager's lifestyles. Though, a majority of the movie focused on Harry and Dumbledore. Hagrid was seen twice, and aside from the spectacular plot, it was dry for me. Especially the scene....well you'll understand what scene I'm talking about when you see it. I think it was to sudden, should have been played out longer, or dramatically.

Spoiler Alert.

I have not seen the new Harry Potter movie because I've been out of town and will he for the next week. Hopefully it will still be in theaters when I'm back. I've read the books so there really can't be that much suprise waiting could there?

While I was sailing I had some time to read, which I don't normally because of the Internet and games. I read the Art of Raving in the Rain and the latest Artemis Fowl book. Racing in the rain was a Marly and Me spin off, but I enjoyed it. I'd recommend it to you if you like racing. I think the author threw in racing to try to grab a stronger foot hold in the male audience, but he does it well or "his interlockings are good". As for Artemis Fowl, it was a series I started while I was still in the target age and as time goes past I've continued to read it because it's a series I really enjoy still unlike things that you grow out of. Another series that I keep up with is the Alex Rider books. Has anyone read any of the above books?

Alright, So I read the OP and everything, and even have stopped by this thread a few times. But I am still confused, what exactly is the purpose of this thread? Is it supposed to be like a matchmaker? I am not sure, but I think that 95% of FH is male so I am pretty sure that it is something else, fill me in please?

What? No. lol. I'm sorry, I just don't quite get how you read the OP and got that from it. The purpose of this thread was to facilitate meaningful discussion. The matchmaking thing is just how the thread got it's name.

I'm guessing here, so I'm sorry if I have the wrong idea. Perhaps you read squidhands' post from a few days ago:

...and are trying to figure out what he was talking about. Is this the case? Because if it's not clear what the difference is between "meaningful discussion" and "latest movie banter", than don't worry too much about it, my explanation it will do no good.

One thing you can do is go beyond the OP. Read the conversation we had for the first few months of this. That may help you to understand how far the standards have dropped. Yeah, we talked about movies back then too (hence the list in the OP), but that was only a part of it. Notice, there are books on the list too, lol.

Ha now I understand it a little bit. I suppose I can start a mature civilized discussion. Think about this: Are humans naturally evil, and only do good because we have free will? Or are we naturally good, and only do evil because we have free will? (This has NOTHING to do with god or religion so please stay away from that subject)

i dont think we're either, necessarily. I do however think we are naturally prone to make mistakes, and lots of them. Mistakes are natural, and I think one's surroundings and circumstances contribute more to one's evil/good demeanor rather than some inherent traits.

Mistakes are so natural that some people even fall in love with someone for their flaws.

I agree with you. This is why I disagree with the death penalty. People can always change, and move on. Your whole life shouldn't be ruined because of one simple mistake. The death penalty is basically saying that "you do not belong in this society, therefore we are removing you from it". However, one simple mistake does not mean that you should be removed from society. Given, some things are extremely punishable, and therefore we use the judicial system to speed the rehabilitation process, but actually killing someone does not solve anything. All it aims to do is give the victim or victim(s) family some sort of peace, which in the long run, is only going to hurt the person who made a "mistake"'s family. Ultimately causing more pain.

Debates belong in the debate forum.

Also, don't complain about how 'standards have dropped' in this thread. Instead, why don't you try and raise the bar once more?
