A thirteen-year-old South Carolina girl began talking to a thirty-one-year old North Carolina man over My Space. After approximately one week of e-mail communications, the man told the girl he was going to come to South Carolina to get her. On August 30, he drove to South Carolina, picked up the teenager, and brought her to Virginia Beach. The girl's parents reported her missing in South Carolina.
South Carolina authorities were able to identify the man as Shawn Engle, 31, of Gates Co., NC. On September 15, North Carolina authorities located the teenage girl at Engle's mother's home in North Carolina. South Carolina authorities obtained a warrant for Shawn Engle's arrest for the charge of Kidnapping. South Carolina authorities believed that Shawn Engle may be staying in the Virginia Beach area, and notified local authorities.
On Friday, October 24, a Virginia Beach Community Services Officer in the Third Precinct observed a vehicle matching the description of Shawn Engle's vehicle in the driveway of a home in the 4800 block of Westgrove Rd., Virginia Beach. Shawn Engle was taken into custody at his acquaintance's home without incident.
Shawn Engle was transported to the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility where he is being held for his South Carolina Kidnapping charge. Further investigation revealed that while the suspect and the victim were in Virginia Beach, the thirteen year-old-girl had consensual sex with the suspect on at least two occasions. On October 27, 2008 Virginia Beach detectives obtained two warrants for Abduction with Intent to Defile and Carnal Knowledge for Shawn Engle, and subsequently served the warrants while he was being held in detention.
This case remains under investigation.

That is stupid what girl would go with a 31 year old dude to another state. She doesnt know him at all even if they were talking for awhile he could be lieing about everything. and why would she have sex with him. she must of been pretty desprite
