Sewers

Sewers
Created by rusty eagle and Shock Theta

Sewers is an amply sized 1v1 map created for Tier 7 of Forge Hub's 1v1 Showdown.

The map is set within a small street scene containing a single two storey house with a balcony. The street runs in an ''L" shape around the ground floor of the house. Currently major road maintenance is being undertaken and there are three access points into the sewer system running beneath the road - one at each end and one at the middle/corner turn. We've named them 'Cage', 'Staircase' and 'B Chute' respectively.

At the base of the Slide rests a low ammo Fuel Rod Gun, the power weapon for the sewer floor. Elsewhere in the sewers there is a Plasma Grenade and a Battle Rifle, underneath the Cage. On street level there are two Battle Rifles, one above the Staircase and one in the ground floor room of the house ('A' Room'). A Carbine lies in the middle of the road behind the maintenance crew's machinery. Moving up to the balcony of the house there is a low ammo Mauler at its end as well as a Plasma Grenade at the middle point of the staircase leading to the topmost floor of the house. Here lies the Sniper Rifle.

Sewers is a very open map and makes use of multiple floors, minimal yet specific wall geometry placement and a wide variety of jumps in order to completely eliminate 1v1 spawning problems yet still enable rapid yet fluid movement around the environment. Its structure strongly promotes the use of longer range weapons whether it is on the open ground floor area, atop the house or down in the tunnels of the sewers. The presence of the Mauler is greatly beneficial in that it does not dominate play but provides a subtle hindrance to the overuse of Assault Rifles. A skilled sniper will do well here, and the Fuel Rod Gun is provided to aid the player stuck down in the sewers. The variety of routes out of this area prevent it from becoming too dangerous a place to be.

Overall Sewers is a map that can provide strong competitive play and prioritises rewarding skill and tactics whilst maintaining a polished and unique setting. Grab a sparring parter and show your skills.

Placed on Map / Respawn Rate / Run Time Max. / Spare Clips
Battle Rifle / 3 / 30 / 3 / 2
Carbine / 1 / 60 / 1 / 2
Mauler / 1 / 45 / 1 / 0
Sniper Rifle / 1 / 90 / 1 / 1
Fuel Rod Gun / 1 / 120 / 1 / 0
Plasma Grenade / 2 / 45 / 2 / N/A

The pics don't show it well, but this map is really good. Even if your not in the tournament (only 4 people are) you should download it. The design makes it great for 2v2 Team Slayer or One Flag CTF. This is by far the best showdown map, which is probably why it's last.

Lol, This is a great map. When Shock was making this I found out that you cant delete the stuff you spawn in the fans. So unless he found a way they might be there today.

I'm not sure I get the whole feel for the map by the pictures but it still looks good.

Re: Sewers

Indeed the pictures don't do the map justice.

It's an interesting layout - finally an asymmetrical map lol. I like it. The curved ramps opposite the fuel rod and the walls sticking through the floor are a little distracting, but thats probably just because I'm such a perfectionist. I'm kind of disappointed at how small it is still though. It was said that this map was the biggest of all, but it's still very much close combat like the rest, I was hoping for something with more mid to long range. Oh well.

Also I managed to get out of the play area. It obviously won't effect the tournament since it'd just get reported.. but it is pretty easy to do. I have a film if its needed.

Actually I built the whole substructure to this map, so I doubt you have placd anything in the fans.

Yet it is still the largest, and if you are referring to the B sign it is intentional.

Me and Shock had quite al of headache making this map because of it's unique layout. Many of you will not understand the amount of changes this map has been through in weapons, geometry, and spawns. However I would hope that you can at least appreciate it.

Anyways this map for me is a blast to play even though I get stomped on it. The little tricks to this map make it absolutely wonderful. I wish I could share these with you, but I'm not telling until after the tourny is over.

Btw Shock did you pull the pictures of b.net? I realize the pictures don't do it justice, but I was to exhausted to do cutaways.

So, I hope all of you enjoy it!

Re: Sewers

These maps are always so good, I just find the pictures dont explain enough, like as if they should be bigger and there should be a sample video or something about the level, words can only explain so much.

Re: Sewers

No I meant the curvy ramp made of fence walls, I think you are calling it the staircase. The idea of them is good but they're as awkward shape for what you wanted - they kind of bug me but it's no big deal. Same for the uber steep ramps to the sniper spawn lol.

With item limit, well sacrifices were made. Sad Face. This map was made glitch free and used up nearly every cent. But, I still hope you guys enjoy the map.
