Flying Saucers

Unidentified Flying Objects. Flying Saucers is a forge map that redefines thinking outside the box as it completely breaks conventional level design with great creativity. Saucers features four well forged flying saucers eerily hovering over the map. These space invaders bombard objective markers by raining missles done onto them.

However, players can fight back against the foreign invaders by using a combination of vehicles or grenades to disable the craft's weapons systems by hitting that special sweet spot atop the saucer.

The map is meant to be played with bungie's "Land Grab" territories variant. In game, the defenders are given banshees to protect the saucers. The attackers have access to many tools that can aid them in disabling a saucer so they can grab a territory.

The primary, and easiest way to fend off the saucers is to hop into a Hornet, fly above the UFO, and fire onto the weak spot located directly on top of the invader’s ship. A successful attack incapacitates the saucer for a full thirty seconds.

There are other, more difficult options afforded to the defenders of Earth. You can simply drive a Warthog underneath the UFO, and spray fire across the ships weapon launcher, hoping to destroy the oncoming explosives before they reach you or your teammates. This same technique can be executed using one of the stationary turrets on the map.

The most difficult method, but also the one that requires the least amount of equipment, is to jump into one of the map’s giant man cannons. Each one (except for the four leading to and from the two main bases) propels you up and over a saucer, giving you a window of mere seconds to toss a grenade into the saucers weak point.

The map is even left open for future forgers to design their own map around the four terrifying saucers.

When playing, be sure to use the Land Grab variant, with terroritory capture time set to 20 seconds.

Hmm. IMO, featured maps are getting weaker and weaker. Its like people are featuring just to feature. What happened to the featured maps that took skill. There are plenty of maps better than this that could get featured.

yah i agree plus all there are is 4 ufo's

they are good creations but still for featured maps they should be better than this

This is defnitely a new concept though, UFOs in Halo? I thought it was a great idea when I first saw the original post and apparently other people did too.

Saw this along time ago and one of the first comments was "Wow, this is amazingly creative, this must be featured"
and look where it is now :)

this map is extremely fun to play with all your friends, the saucers just make this map, they are soo funny to look at just flying up there and shooting their bombs

This map is definitely one of the more original ones out there. I especially like the fact that it's almost required to deactivate the UFO to capture the territories.

dont mean to be a mean but i feel the same way, like dont get me rong with is a good map but there are lots others witch deserve a feature way more. like really there are some AMAZING forgers that are going un-noticed on here. I can think of a few right of the bat who deserve a feature anyways, good map. thow
