Welcome to ForgeHub's official SOTW Contest, Week 50, brought to you by Pigglez! For the clueless among us, Sig Of The Week is a biweekly competition in which ForgeHub members submit their best signature corresponding to a theme and the community has the opportunity to vote which one they like best.

Congratulations to Week 50's winner: Scobra


This is how the contest works[times and dates are in ACT]: Every two weeks you will have between Monday, of the first week, and Thursday, of the second week, to submit your signature. These will then be put onto a public voting poll between Thurday and Sunday of the second week. The winner will then be announced on the following Monday. Each installment will have a theme that all signatures must follow; these will also be announced on Mondays. If a signature does not meet the theme it won't appear on the voting thread, so pay attention.


So what are the prizes? If a user wins three consecutive SOTWs they'll receive a custom title. The winning signature will replace one of the images in the letters of the banner above and will be added to the Winners' Gallery, along with that you'll be welcome to good old fashion bragging rights. The most important prize however is the joy of competing with your fellow hubbers and that warm damp feeling of crushing them in victory, I'm sure you'll agree.

This week, SOTW is taking a detour into uncharted territory as, in our SOTW 51, we go into Area 51! So without further ado...

ALIENS!

Rules:
  • Entrants may only submit a signature created by themselves.
  • Signatures must follow all forum rules. This includes those against nudity and pornography.
  • Signatures may not be larger than 500 x 200 pixels, though these rules can be bend in some circumstances.
  • Signatures which are ripped or are cropped from the artwork of others will be disqualified.
  • Vertical signatures are allowed and are exempt from the size rule above.
  • You may edit or change your entry any time before the voting thread is posted.
  • If your sig has won in the past it may not be entered again.

So why am I not using a poll? Well there are two answers:
  • Firstly I want to ensure the voting is based solely on the quality of the sigs and not have the voting turn into a popularity contest. You must provide a valid reason with your vote based on the properties of the signature. Any vote without a reason will be disregarded.
  • Secondly the poll system on the forum can only have ten options. There's normally more than 10 entries and this is the best solution as far as I'm concerned.
If you have entered the contest you are free to vote, but naturally you may not vote for yourself.

Site Update Banner Contest

You may have seen this mentioned in the Site Update a couple of days ago, and apologies about taking until today to get this rolling. There are no real rules as such, apart from the banner having the words 'Site Update' as a focal point, of course. But there are a few guidelines which it's useful to bear in mind:
  • Size: If you're unsure what we're after here, 500x200 is a very good starting point. But feel free to play around with this sizing a little within reason if it helps the look of your entry. That said, anything above 250px height and 600px wide is getting rather out of bounds, and obviously anything below 500x200 is a little small.
  • Keep it Forge themed, obviously. You don't have to push the boat out on this, and relevance to FH or just something that fits with the site's visual style is good enough. If you want to make it less specific than a given theme then that could well work too, just don't go putting random bands on it or anything. Simple works.
  • Bear in mind multiple forum themes when designing. This banner will be viewed by all users of the site, so it should work well with both the light and dark themes. Making the banner itself too light or dark is generally a bad move.
  • Deadline is at Midnight on Saturday the 21st of November (Ok, so this one is a rule)

You may only submit one banner, but you can edit your submission post at any time before the deadline so don't feel compelled to choose right away.


I can't think that this is going to be a massively busy affair, so it seems easier to just make this the thread for both discussion and submission. Don't go reserving posts, it doesn't matter anyway, but feel free to edit your submission at any time before the deadline (Midnight on Saturday the 21st of November) when the thread will be locked, in case you want to tweak it or anything.

If you have any questions then ask them here or PM/VM me, also if you'd like to show me your entry ahead of the deadline to get some feedback then that's more than ok

-a picture of yourself
-Images relating to yourself/gamertag/FH username
-Images relating to the gamertag/name/FH username of another FH user
-Try to make any images you use be easy to understand how they relate to you.

So as you may or may not have known, we are reaching a milestone here with our 50th SOTW. XD To make it more special, Linubidix had posted a Theme Suggestion thread to let everyone come up with the theme. There were many suggestions, which is great to see the enthusiasm for it.

So this thread will be the voting thread. i will list below all of the suggestions made, and the community will decide which suggestion they most want to see in SOTW 50.

To vote, post in BOLD the theme you want. Also, you can only vote once, for One theme only. I'll keep the thread open until Monday, when the SOTW 49 voting ends. Needless to say, the theme with the most votes wins. And the nominees are...

I'm more than certain there are members in the G&A section who'd be glad to temporarily host it.
