Suggestion Debate forum into something more?

I've seen some other forums do this, they have turned their debate forum into a "Higher thinking" area. This way it allows for the same debate format, but you can bounce ideas off one another. It also allows for threads on advance topics that do not necessarily need to be debated. (ie instead of "Black holes; real or fake?" we could have "Discussion of the theory Black Holes")

Just a suggestion, what do you all think?

Honestly most people on the internet are incapable of 'higher thinking'. The "Debates" forum is about as far from a real debate as you can get. Personally I don't even know why we keep it.

I personally think the debate forum should be deleted. It seems like random arguments/flame wars, and if im not mistaken, it is also really easy post count.

The debate forum isn't that bad, but some one idiot in that forum ruins the whole debate. What the debate forum lacks though is unique threads. How many threads on God have been made? Seriously? But still, the debate forum isn't that bad is it. And rarely is there any spam to get your post count up, but then again I may be mistaken. Not nearly as much spam as there is in the screenshots thread and the off topic thread.

But I am going to have to agree, it is seeming to become more of a higher intelligence area.

pretty pointless comment, but that's untrue, post count only counts in gaming discussion debate and introductions in the community section

I personally think an area like I suggested would make the section tolerable, especially for the users who have no idea.

Maybe just getting rid of the post count part in debate would make it better, then people might actually debate instead of trying to get their count up.

A useful tip: No one is exploiting the debate forum in order to raise their post count, at least intentionally.

And moreover, post count means nothing, stop suggesting it even matters. OT/GnA should have it enabled, it's only a number. Not to derail the thread or anything.

Don't need 2 people commenting on my one mistake. I should ban myself from this forum.

I agree with you on this issue though. Especially after seeing the one debating gravity (Scarred now).

Am I one of those people who have no idea?
