Unnofficial Testers section of the TRC Guild

It's hard for someone like me that wants to test maps to get invited to many. And while the testers guild may be efficient for testing maps, sometimes you'd like others to try it too. Plus, if you can't be active on the testers guild, you can't be a member. Hence the reason I haven't applied. I have a hectic schedule. I'm sure I'm not the only person that would benefit from this.

Basically I'm just suggesting a subforum in the TRC Guild, Unnofficial Testers. Post your map, a date, and a time and people can join in for testing whenever. This allows for gaining people to test your map extremely quickly. It also allows for people to get credit in case they are planning on joining the guild officially.

Of course the guild is useful. It's downright professional. But that's the problem. It removes the unprofessional, who in some cases just get lucky.

Any other views on this suggestion?

I would also recommend making posts not count in the subforum, since some tester, as I would, would post for as many maps as possible.

Hey, if you need someone for testing a map, just Add me. GT is on my profile. AKA look to the left. No, your other left.

P.S. Let me know you need me for testing. Otherwise I won't add you.

no, this defeats the purpose and is utterly selfish, you want to have people who dedicate there time to testing maps to test your maps without giving them something in return? the testers guild is a community for people who like to test maps and have there maps tested.
Now if you cannot be active in the testers guild, then just invite your friends to a game, its that simple.

My advice would be to just join the tester's guild and do the tests you can. I'm pretty sure they won't kick you out if you can't test for a couple weeks when you're busy.

Actually, that's not what I said.

I said I wanted a seperate section for anyone to test maps, off record unless they bring it up. It would make it literally the second fastest way to get a map tested, even if it is the second least accurate. For the round effect it is the way to go. Fastest, of course, would be the Bungie.net classified, but I can barely find anyone post maps up there for testing.

I don't have many friends in my friends list. I rarely add a person I don't know in life. I know that I'm not the only person without friends on all the time as well.

What reward did they get in the first place?

I'm sorry Orange, I just don't understand your post. Could you please elaborate? How am I being selfish?

Well let me elaborate, you are saying you want to just receive tests without giving to the testers guild. You may not be trying to be but it is a little bit selfish. If you are productive trying member in the testers guild, they aren't going to kick you out, it's not like they don't want to have a lot of members, they just down want to have a lot of members who aren't trying to help.

I get your idea and i was probably being harsh, but what i mean is are you purposing a place with testers where you just give them your maps and not test theirs, or a place where you all play customs and can test out your map with any official testers, because if it is the second one, what i said was incorrect and the Customs Lobby is what you are explaining. I think.

Also at first i kind of took it as you wanted to test your maps in the guild without being a tester yourself. Thus why i came on so harshly. Sorry

Oh no. I see what you meant. Yes, I was thinking about the customs lobby when I posted that, but I was thinking a little more specific, but at the same time for general. It would actually even fit into the customs lobby as a subsection. The point is it is, while crude, the fastest way to find people for anything. Make a post with your GT in it, asking for people. Since that fits into the Games To Be Played Soon thread, I was thinking that perhaps make one just for testing. That way with a subscription to any thread you are testing, you could have a small board for testing and news on the map in the way of updates. More specific than a preview, yet less developed than a final product. Not to mention, easy to find. Quick to set up too on fast days. No specific date or time.

The idea is basically a combination of games to be played soon, groups, map previews, and the map testers guild. I put it under the map testers guild, because that entire section is actually called the TRC guild. Not just Custom Everything in general.

The TG is a very professional institution, and I think it should stay that way. The foundations to a good sub-community are straightlaced precedents that keep the place running in a fashionable state.

Having a chaotic 'test whenever' section just wouldn't be uniform to the Guild, and really just crumble its support pillars. I mean what's the point anyway? You just post your map and tell people to test whenever? That's getting about the same amount done as just going online and inviting everybody on the TG Gamertag.

I vote no, good suggestion though.

The thing is if people are serious about testing their maps they'll sign up for a guild testing session. If not then eh, whatever, its up to them. As from your point of view, if you join the guild you don't have to leave feedback and sign up for tests, its just recommended. You could just show up to any test you get an invite to.

So I vote no as well.
