Dead links on home page. Here's how to fix.

Just a word of advice, I'd first try this on a test template, then once you've got it, I'd copy and paste onto the main template.

I hope I worded this well enough =/

There's this glitch where my signature somehow got changed and there was nothing wrong with it, just a signature like everyone else...

If it came bundled with an infraction then it obviously broke the signature rules. Restore your signature and I'll tell you whether it's too big or not

Okay, there's a textual error or miscommunication on the site's designer's part. I go to the Rules tab, look up how big I can make my sig image. It says:
Signature Rules
  1. Must abide by all forum rules.
  2. Must be 500 x 200 pixels or less.
  3. Must not have more than either:
    1. 2 quotes and 1 line of text
    2. 1 quote and 3 lines of text
    3. 10 lines of text alone
Now, when I click Edit Signature in the User Control Panel, it read this below the Upload bar and Upload button:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller).

So, I had started designing my signature image according to the Rules, and by the time I was ready to upload it, apparently the Rules have gone out the window and 500x200 no longer applies. No. now its 500x100 according to the stupid Upload Note!
Guys, come on. That wasted like an hour of my time, now I have to redo my sig image. Get the Rules right plz.

EDIT: Ok so it looks to me like the actual problem with the file I was uploading was it was a .bmp, which wasn't even specified in the Rules. Nowhere does it say that you need a .jpg.
So the only thing wrong was the Upload note, which states that the image must be 500x100, not 500x200 like the Rules. That was a typo because my file worked once I changed its filetype.

Well here's yo' problem.

While I see the issue you present makes no sense (Us having the rule 500x200, yet the upload restrictions set for signatures are at 500x100), what you should actually be doing is uploading your image to a third-party hosting site (such as Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket). Once you've uploaded your image, copy the direct url to your signature. Then put [img] tags on each side.

For example:

Turns into:

My problem? I have no problem, the site has a typographical error. That's what I was pointing out.

EDIT: Wonderful, my sig STILL isn't showing up. And I uploaded it and everything.
EDIT2: Now it's up. But ONLY because I used the IMG url from photobucket

EDIT3: By the way thanks for the tip on using the IMG from third-party. I'm calm now lol. Just won a game on Assembly 50-37 with MVP so I'm great!

Calm down there Tonto. I was merely pointing out that I don't suggest anyone use that method of getting signatures up...Mostly because you don't have to worry about file types when uploading through photobucket (well, to a certain extent of course)

I too, noticed a long while ago, that there was that error in the text, but it's so minute a detail, I let it be...

Actually the data base error rate has been ALOT higher for me of late, as far back as a couple of months even. It's not always that the site is down, and often I ask people and they say it's working fine for them. Sometimes it can be fixed by emptying my browser cache, often only to happen again a few clicks later, but sometimes nothing can fix it and I have to wait it out.

I personally have noticed this occurrence being more frequent recently, everyone knows that sites have downtime, so I wouldn't assume that Lone is posting such a stupid point if I were you, especially considering he's been around here a good while and is more than familiar with what is usual on the site.
