Infractions

Infractions are used as a way of punishing wrongdoers on the site. An accumulation of "infraction points" results in decreased access to certain parts of the site, including PMs, Off-Topic, the Shoutbox, etc.

eventually, they build up to a ban.

if you need more info read the rules.

and please don't bump a long dead topic, merely consult a moderator.

Why do you want to lock this? This thread can at least stop a few rant threads that are about infractions.

Yeah, don't lock this thread. That'd be like locking the "OMG I gut EXP Banned 4 No Raison!" hread on b.net; the bungie employees would get tonnes [more] PMs from people bitching saying that they were only getting an achievement/only getting a medal etc.

Obviously the consequence of locking this thread here would be that there would be more infraction-based threads in this forum, all saying "ok i read the stikied topic but..."

So it's better unlocked really.

the infractions r good but u should give new people like 3-4 days to work out the site befor giveing them infractions just tell them what there doing wrong and delete there posts and after about 2 days or so if thay still do it give them infractions.

yea you would think so but
1 if there really new to the web thay might not no how
2 thay still might not understand the rules after thay read them
3 there used to sites that arent as strict as this 1
thay should just have a little time to no the stie befor geting points

no.

when you log onto our site, when you register...you agree to abide by our rules.

whether or not they actually read them is their fault, most skip them, if they get infracted, its their fault.

1. Rules are rules. And most are common knowledge.
2. Many of the rules are common knowledge, such as spam. It is basically one sentence posts, and many of the rules ahve explanations explaining what it is exactly. Read carefully.
3. There are infractions that do not cause points. They are called "Warnings" and are used for reminders of rules, and it is almost a gimme that you will get a Warning before the infraction expecially if you are new.
