Yeah rep wars are really bad too. I only - rep if there being offensive because they usually give the same - rep to you as payback.

If I held a contest for members of forgehub and gave out +rep for a prize, would it be considered rep abuse? To clarify things the contest is for a "Best Trick Session" on my new Skate Park.
If it is rep abuse I wont do it, just want to clarify things before I do do it.

Well, I said I would put this in if you guys thought it was rep abuse.
So, I commented on megathumbs' Caverns v7 and said what a great job his map was.
I gave him +rep.

I got -repped by JEEF and he said it was spam, but it wasn't even close to spam.

Regarding the first post, I would have agreed with JEEF. Someone had already told him that the thread was not up to standards. Was it really necessary for you to come, and repeat it, perhaps with different words?

As for the second complaint, that wasn't spam, but he did have the right to negative rep you on that one. Some people might take jokes a little too seriously, and you should know about that. Saying it was funny, was most definitely the wrong thing you could've done.

You need 100 rep points to get another rep bar.

Yeah but I thought he was new and didn't know how to do, and the other guy didn't really help that much, so I decided to assist. But then he fixed his post and I saw that he just wasn't finished. And as for the other one, I was laughing at the guy who posted the pic, not the pic itself. But yeah you could be right...

Th Kn1ght -repped me because I allowed Sdrakulich into the Testers Guild. As a senior member I was allowed to interview him to see that he was qualified.

Upon interviewing him, I found that he was in fact qualified to be in the guild. Now as the interviewer, I had to be unbiased and fair. I put aside things like this. I had to put away my personal opinions and be a fair judge. So I did, and found he was qualified, regardless of whether or not he is a "spammer". If he is, that means that he should be punished by the ForgeHub staff. Not me. If he had been in fact warned, I would find that he isn't qualified.

So after finding that he was qualified, I posted that he should be qualified. Instead of -repping me for allowing him to be in the guild, he could of dug up some spam posts and we may have not allowed him in the guild. But instead he -repped me for being a fair and unbiased judge.

Coming from the man who doesn't care about rep ;)

Sampson, I disagree with you on "unbiased" and "fair". A members actions around FH effect their status in the guild. If a member is known as a spammer, pisses people off or is a general ass to other people on the site, than this reflects the guild in negative light. Th Knight has a right to voice opinion, though I do agree with you that -repping a decision that is ultimately not his decision isn't correct, we shouldn't be battling amongst ourselves.

Anyway, this is a matter of the TG and should be dealt with inside us please, after you get your rep fixed of course.

yeah I never said I didn't care about rep. I said I didn't care for rep abuse. Which is what this is. Besides its not like that matters anymore

And yes. I said that should be taken into account. But as I rarely Sdrak outside of off topic, I haven't seen spam from him. He could've linked me to spam by Sdrak. A members overall reputation and behavior should be considered. But since I was unaware of his "spamming" I didn't know that rejecting him was the way to react.

Besides the final decision isn't mine alone. All I said is that he passed the interview. The administration can still discuss whether or not he should be allowed. So if it did come up that he had been spam posting, then that would be the case. But this course of action was not the correct one.
