Default High Haven

Map Title: High Haven
Altitude with Attitude

Download Here
(use default gametypes for this map)

EDIT NOTE 7/10/08:
I hate thread rating abusers. If you're going to be a troll and rate the thread a 1 star, go ahead and do so, but then GTFO. If you're honestly insecure enough that all you can do to make yourself feel better is negatively rate something on a Halo forum, you have no business being here. Go to Bungie.net or GameFAQs where you'll fit in with the rest of the socially inept and repressed who have nothing better to do than get on the Internet.

Description:
I present to you all my third map, and my first map posted here at Forge Hub. As per my standard Forging style, this map is small, and is based on the concept of close quarters combat. This map uses interlocks, and was not budget glitched. <-Yep, you read that right.

This map, High Haven, is an asymmetric map based on the concept that height equals might. It was designed to be either a splitscreen FFA map or a small team (2v2 and 3v3) asymmetric objective map, and its rather small size reflects that.

There are two distinct regions of the map, the top, and the bottom. I'm amazing at names, right? The upper area is narrow and confined, and is an excellent battleground. In objective gametypes, the Attacking team is spawned at the top. The lower area, however, is more open. The Defenders spawn in the bottom area during objective gametypes.
A map wouldn’t be a map without multiple ways of moving between areas. This map doesn’t disappoint. There are four ways from each area to the other, the Grand Staircase, the Back Staircase, the Shield Door, and the one-way (bottom to top) Elevator, as well as the one-way (top to bottom) Chute. This map supports all gametypes. Yet, as with all maps, some gametypes are more fun than others. I recommend:

One Bomb Assault (Best gametype for this map by far, 3v3 is most fun)
FFA Slayer (3-5 players)
FFA Crazy King (3-5 players)
Team Slayer (2v2 is more fun, but 3v3 works fine)
One Flag CTF (3v3, slow down the flag carrier a bit more than usual)

Screenshots:

The Grand Staircase is the focal point of the map. It is a two-story staircase, and is wider at the top. Glory is won and lost here.

Grand from Top

Grand from Bottom

The Back Staircase is a sometimes-overlooked stairway that provides a sneakier way of accessing the top. It also has a blind corner on the middle landing that can be used for Sword/Mauler camping. It’s a legitimate strategy!!

Another View

Back Staircase from Bottom

Staircases alone are boring. Thus, there is another way up. A series of platforms extending from the walls lead to this shielded entry point.
The Shield Door Entry Point

Shield Door from Top

This one way access point, the elevator, moves you from Bottom to Top. Simply run into the corner of the elevator (near the flashing receiver node) and get whisked away.

Elevator Entrance

Top of Elevator

The Chute, conveniently located between the Grand Stairs and the Back Stairs, is a useful way to get to the Sword’s spawn point. Drop down and surprise foes below. Or escape from a pursuer.

Sword Spawn- Note the fence wall bisecting the Double Box it resides in

Bottomside is a semi-open area. Use the Fence Wall ceiling to your advantage to pick off weakened foes on top. But be careful- they can shoot you too.

The Defenders' Base

Topside is a hotly contested area. Bring your A-Game. Or your close quarters weapon. Whatever floats your boat.

Topside's Mauler Spawn

Bottomside from Topside

Weapons on Map:
1 Rocket Launcher (0 spare clips, 90 second respawn)
1 Sword (runtime max = 1, 120 second respawn)
1 Mauler (clips = 1, runtime max = 1, 60 second respawn)
2 SMGs
2 Spikers
1 Plasma Rifle
1 Needler
2 Assault Rifles
2 Battle Rifles
1 Carbine
4 Frag Grenades
4 Spike Grenades
1 Bubble Shield
1 Power Drainer

I hope everyone that downloads this map enjoys it! Please comment, I really appreciate your feedback. All of it. It'll make my future maps and maybe even a redo of this one (if necessary) better. :) Also, feel free to bump the Bungie.net thread. It's hard to get stuff noticed there!

I really liked the vertical layout of this map. I managed to play a game of slayer on it and I had a lot of fun. I'm glad you moved the rocket launcher, I think that made a big difference in game play. I still want to play a game of one flag on this map. I know its going to be intense. Keep up the good work.

Looks pretty cool
idk how well it is tho from the screenshots
and one thing is, you may want to put the boxes u have in the floor underneath, to make a smooth running surface

Thanks for commenting guys! Glad you liked it DTL. And to The Official Y35: I left the open doubles on the floor above ground because lowering them made the top look uneven, and I didn't have an extra double box to fuse within to eliminate gaps and make it look even. Part of my goal with this map was to not use the budget glitch. ;)
