G66 Secret Underground Testing Facility

G66 Station

USCN Secret Underground Testing Facility
Built for Single/Multi Bomb or Flag - Team Slayer
8-12 players

Deep underground the wastelands of harvest a secret testing facility for the next generation of Spartans was built after archaeologists and USNC forces found several ancient underground structures. Matching the symbols to those found and studied on the halo rings it was hypothesized that these crypts were water cooling stations engineered to keep an ancient power plant running. Details of that site remain classified on a need to know basis. Scientists studied these mammoth structures before USCN forces took them over turning them into a hardcore battle training facility. Harvest still remains a wasteland to this day.

Appropriately named “G66 Station” after the ODST officer who originally found the site in question. Its location remains a highly guarded secret among the USNC high brass and the elite scientific community. The Spartan V3 program was taken over by Dr Fredrick Von Repa after the covenant had glassed the planet killing Dr Haynes and her research team. Fortunately she had backed up her information with her A.I which was recovered intact. This has helped rebuild her legacy.

Each first floor base has four entrances which are shielded using recovered covenant technology. First floor water vents which run horizontally across the map separate the two base areas forcing each team into the corridors. The water vents also provide great firing positions which overlook each base area. In the courtyard of each base are you will find a two way teleporter which leads to an enclosed room.

Trying to get the entire site under one picture was extremely difficult so it was broken down into four pictures.

Lighting has been important on this build so this map. Each coloured FX light has been placed symmetrically within the spaces of the lower corridor trying to generate an atmosphere and to highlight each base in its own way. Other effects include the gloomy effect which highlights the overall map and light placement. Photos do not show this effect as they come up to dark to differentiate the objects placed.

I hope you enjoy this crazy little map
Any and all feedback if greatly appreciated.

Additional note: For those who downloaded Repa Castle; I asked for it to be removed so USNC engineers could work on the floors and a few other issues relating to the build. It will be back shortly.

I like the map, but the weapon layout isn't that great. Spread them around rather than having them all at the bases.

Finished - Bone Temple, designed for 2vs2 games
Planned - Miniastruct, a remake of construct

The outside of the map looked pretty good. I thought the map was forged very well. The way the tubes stretched out to the corners was nice. One thing I didn't like at all was the emptyness of the inside Y tubes. They need something in them some kind of cover. And also what you called the "Bases" were also kinda borring. But the design was really good, and the forgeing was good as well, just needs a little spicing up. The gameplay is decent, but the center Y tubes are not that fun to fight in. So, hum... 6/10 because of the borring sections, but fix it up, and it will be much better. Make a v2.

This is a maxed out forged map so i will have to remove some items to make other parts of the map a little more exciting.

I have removed the shields from the dorrways to each entrance which cover the balcony area over the lower corridor entrances, removed the teleporters from the enclosed room as well as everything that was inside as that was pointless.. just deciding on what to place and where.

I appreciate the map needs some decorating here and there but i hope you like the basic design format. i am working on at the mo and will update the map over the next couple of days.

As for weapon placements... at each entrance to the lower corridors you will find a battle rifle and automatic rifle, a plasma grenade and the two maulers aswell as the shotgun. I will have a rethink and a play around with the suggestions posted.

UPDATE:

I've strategically placed wall slits by each entrance in the first fo the lower corridors to force alternative routes and to provide cover for each team. I also added four huge ramps facing upwards off each wall in the central hub corridor to give the impression of struts.. this provides great cover.. I was thinking of replacing the shotgun which is placed there with either an energy sword or the flame thrower just to spice things up abit.

As for the flag/bomb room being boring I'm at a loose end on what to do.. I described that room as a base, but to be honest the base represents the entire area which is closed off for each team. I did add two fins in the flag/bomb room which provides some cover but i appreciate it might still need some work. I have about eight forge item spaces available left before the map is maxed out and I've got forge block?

Once I figure this out i will relist the map. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please pm me

version 2 will be tested before I post it.
