Midship Remake

Midship
"These ruins of the Pious Inquisitor were unearthed long after its fatal crash into the sand."

Before you read:
This map was originally meant for a contest, and the original is not compatible with slayer, although there is an available slayer-compatible version. The contest forced me to incorporate a specific gametype, and the gametype(s) I chose did not allow any escape from the map on the chosen settings. This means that on the slayer-compatible version, there are indeed a few areas that can be used to escape the map, however they are not too obvious. Anyhow, I will make everything available to download, in the case that you want to play the original games without having to worry about escapees…

Brief Description:
This map is a Halo 3 Version of the Halo 2 Map Midship made on the ground floor of Sandbox. There are quite a few things which make this map interesting. (In terms of Slayer on this map,) One of these would be the long sightlines--however, although you can see your enemies from across the map, the map's unique weapon set makes it very hard to get kills at such distances. This makes the map's single carbine and two BRs almost power weapons if used properly. Similarly, the power weapons with which we are all familiar on this map, the shotgun and the sword, can be used to no lesser extent, given the great amount of available cover and varying levels of playing height on the map. (In terms of the map as a whole,) Two other great things about this map are its aesthetic beauty/broad utilization of forging techniques (nearly every object exhibits some form of advanced forging) and its accuracy to the original "Pious Inquisitor" from Halo 2. There are but a few things lacking in accuracy, particularly on the "Carb" side, but the overall effect is undoubtedly the best available in terms of Midship remakes.

The Map:
Midship from Halo 2 - Doesn't have weapons on the map! (gametypes neccessary)
-Supports Halo 2 gametypes King of Blades (King of the Hill with swords and pistols--can get rather interesting), Fight Club, Team Fight Club (the ancestor of Team Melee, but with modifications to lengthen close-quarters fights), and Midfection (a simple Halo 2 infection variant)
...also available in a Slayer-Compatible Version - Does have weapons on the map! (gametypes unneccessary)
-Supports any slayer-based games, the keystone to Halo multiplayer
(Note: Team BRs is especially nice on this map if you're looking for that nostalgic Halo 2 feel, but regular Slayer promotes the use of the map's unique weapon set. Also, the teams must be only either red or blue.)

Recommended Number of Players:

King of Blades- 6 (FFA)
Midfection- 6-8 (FFA)
Fight Club- 6 (FFA)
Team Fight Club- 3v3 (Team) or 4v4 (Team)
Slayer- 6 (FFA) or 4v4 (Team)

Weapon Set:
4x Needler
1x Carbine
1x Plasma Pistol
2x Plasma Rifle
1x Energy Sword
1x Shotgun
2x Battle Rifle
2x Plasma Grenade
3x Frag Grenade

This looks like a pretty solid remake, it doesnt have the wobbling platform though, i miss that platform, but i dont want to forge the crap out of epitah just for a wobbling platform so ill stop complaining now.

it looks pretty smooth but a little easy to escape from. 4/5 good job

Forging epitaph wouldn't make sense lol.

About the escaping, like I said, the original map + gametype(s) is inescapable.

Bungie's remake of Blackout shows you shouldn't put blind faith in their creations. I hope Heretic is good, though.

Yea, so I've heard lol. I didn't go out and make this because I thought it would be a super great idea, though. I mean if it wasn't for the contest, I wouldn't have made it. Fortunately, I don't believe this changed the quality of my map though.

It looks pretty good. As far remakes go, I'd actually say its one of the best there is.

What stays my hand though is the fact that if I want to play Midship, I just put in Halo 2.......and if scuttlebutt holds true, when ODST comes out, we'll have an official remake of Midship on our hands.

I can only please one person per day.

Today isn't your day.

Tomorrow isn't looking too good either.
