Dead Heat v2

Dead Heat v2 <------download link

Yes! The long awaited Version 2 of the map that Forgehub.com declared as a "hidden gem" has arrived!

The original version of this map was the first Sandbox map that I have ever made...and I spent the entire day(no joke) of March 3rd forging it. I tested it out and it was fun, but it was also lacking.
Lacking what?
"Lacking player progression" says TransactionZero.

He suggested that the middle buildings be staggered. I thought that was a marvelous idea, and so it came to pass.

I did however find that the middle area was lacking "height" as well. The only way to
really to re-do all 6 of the middle structures. Although it was time consuming, it wasn't as bad as rebuilding an entire map, and it was well worth it.

This map works BEST with Team Slayer Brs, Multi-Flag Brs, and Assault.
This map supports all standard gametypes.

Weapons:
Sniper x2 (1 extra clip, 120 sec)
Rocket x1 (1 extra clip, 180 sec)
Gravity Hammer x1 (120 sec)

Energy Sword x1 (120 sec)
Mauler x2 (1 extra clip, 90 sec)
Carbine x4 (2 clips, 30 sec)
Brute Shot x2
(2 clips, 30 sec)
Battle Rifle x8 (2 clips, 15 sec)
Assault Riffle x2
(2 clips, 30sec)
Plasma Rifle x2 (30 sec)
SMG x2 (2 clips, 30 sec)
Plasma Pistol x2 (60 sec)
Needler x2
(2 clips, 90 sec)
Missile Pod x2
(180 sec)

Equipment:
Frag Grenade x4 (10sec)
Plasma Grenade x12 (10sec)
Overshield x1 (150 sec)
Active Camo x1 (150 sec)
Regenerator x1 (120 sec)
Bubble Shield x1 (120 sec)
Power Drainer x2 (120 sec)
Grav-Lift x2 (45 sec)

Vehicles:
Warthog x2 (120 sec)
Mongoose x4 (90 sec)

And without further a due...

About this last screenshot...you might notice the 2 receiver nodes pointing at the center tube piece. If you jump toward it, the grav-lift inside it will take you to the top of the tower. :)

Have fun. :)

I'm REALLY liking the changes from the pics. I thought v1 was well made and this is looking way better. Great job and will let you know how it plays.

My Maps:

I really like the layout of the map it looks like it would be amazing for assault like you said although there are a few places where merging could have been done to make it look a bit cleaner

You know you want this pie

I never saw v1, but this layout is creative and I think it has potential for CTF and assault. However, some merging looks like no effort was put into it, such as the stone bridge way back there in the third pic down. Still, the red base looks much stronger in aesthetics than than the blue base so I would fix that. However, I do like the map and will download it. Thanks.

My best maps maps:
TC Conference B (slayer)
Skyscraper MT--A Monster Trucks map, remake of the Mario Kart 64 battle map

This map looks really good i like the scafolding bridge and the big bases. Something about those big bases reminds me of this one map in Star Wars Battlefront 2 i dont know but any way you have my dl and i give it a 5/5 because it looks really good.

Hey dude, I saw and played your V.1. I liked it a lot and really like the changes in the center, I can't wait to see how it plays. One question however, Gravity hammer and energy sword? A bit over powered don't you say? But anyways, much better! 4.9/5

When I first saw this new version, I jizzed in my pants..

Not really, but I thought it was a huge step forward from your last version.

I like how you added more height to your map, while also making it wider by taking out the walls on the sides. Some people may see that you were trying to be lazy and not interlock certain things, but I'd have to disagree. I don't think interlocking and geomerging have to make a good map. If something fits nicely, then there's no need to interlock it with another object.

Okay, now that my rant is over, let me comment on the rest of your map.

I noticed that in the play tests we had the other day, no one ever went for the Energy Sword or Grav Ham. The ones who did go for the Sword almost always died before they could even use it. And I don't remember anyone picking up the Grav Ham.

So, I suggest that you remove both of them and either let the areas that had them empty, or possibly add some sort of equipment, grenade, etc. to replace them.

Other than that, I think this map is very solid and it should be in Matchmaking! ;)

Overall, I give this map a 4.5/5

The Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword aren't really over-powering at all. They used to be shotguns, but I thought that shotguns are plain and over used. So i decided to spice it up.

I noticed in the play tests that I was killed by the sword several times. And i used the Hammer a couple times as well. I also viewed the films afterward to see how players were playing the map.

Okay, but do you really think a Grav Ham and a Sword are very good on this map?

Aaahhh! I was wondering what those teleporter nods were for! Grav-lift! That one really blew me away. I really like this map. I love the lay out and the bases are amazing. I'm usually pretty sceptical about the FXs but it seems to be ok for this map. The one thing I'm not sure I like is how close the sword and rockets are to each other, I don't know. Sure wish I could get some play tests on this one.
