Ash v2

Ashv2

A sandbox map variant made by B1gB1rd09.

UPDATE: V2 is now availible for download! Changes include-
  1. More cover in bases
  2. Banshees that spawn 2 minutes into game instead of Hornets
  3. Spartan laser added
  4. More merging, therefore generally neater map
  5. More cover
  6. Updated weapon list

Ash is a competitive map that came to me when I was sitting in Sandbox messing around with the killball. I thought "Hmmm... this could be used to make a volcano!"

And so, that's what I did. I made the volcano, and from there I thought that I could probably make a map out of it. So, I began sculpting two bases on each side of the volcano. I then began placing cover and weapons, and soon, Ash was born.

Ash is best played with team King of the Hill (Red and Blue teams only), Team slayer (Red and Blue teams only) Multi Flag CTF, Assault, and Territories (Red and Blue teams only).

Weapon List
Ash has it's share of power weapons. These are used mainly to keep the many vehicles at bay, and to keep people focused on the volcano and give them a reason to go anywhere near them.
(note that the weapon list at this time may be slightly off)
  • Frag grenades x?
  • Plasma grenades x?
  • BR x8
  • AR ammo
  • SMG x2(?)
  • Spikerx2(?)
  • Sniper x2
  • Rocket Launcher x2
  • Shotgun x2
  • Brute Shot x2
  • Missile Pod x1
  • Bubble Shield x1
  • Trip Mine x2
  • Power Drain x1
  • Regenerator x1
  • Flare x1
  • Warthog (Turret) x2
  • Mongoose x4
  • Banshee x2
  • Spartan Laser x1
Note: I will double check the weapon list at a later time.

This looks great. The aesthetics's could be touched up with interlocking slightly more, but I really like the concept and how it looks. However, do you gain anything out of going to the volcano? Do you have a risk = reward factor? Anyway, 7/10. Nice job, I like the look of this.

This looks good I guess. It could have been executed better and there doesn't seem to be much protection from the Hornet's fire. That might be a problem. The bases are kind of boring and average looking. Maybe if you delete the rockets and put a Spartan Laser floating above the volcanoe, it would be a bit better. Good idea, but this is also a little sloppy in places. Good job though.

i definitely appreciate the use of the second level. i completely agree with svv33t sauc3 about the hornets. the bases are way to small and way to accessible. since there is no spartan laser the hornets reign free and have too much power. we tested it and in a ctf game it only took 22 seconds to cap a flag using the hornets. that means theoretically a ctf game could end in a matter of a minute or so. if you did some better interlocking and reworked the base and weapons on the map i think it would be a fun map. 2/5

Well i would say i like the additional cover, and the themed bases but the objects seemed almost randomly placed.

I like it! The objects may seem to be randomly placed, but they are spaced very well.
