I'm not really impressed by this, I can see it is a good remake, but i think it has no such Sanctuary feeling as in Halo 2. It really looks a bit empty.

But for the goal to remake sanctuary, you've done a good job. Try a v2, with more sanctuary feeling, i'm sure you can do that!

i understand what you are saying but the reason why it seems a bit open is because in halo 2 th gameplay was faster and in halo 3 its a bit slower. So yeah its going to appear open in some areas, but when you have a full team vs team, then thats when its funn.

I'm not really sure how that was supposed to be interpreted. I mean his work here looks more impressive to me than some of yours. But that aside, assumptions and first impressions in forge are often misleading.

Quite right you are, the creator, to perhaps change the scale of the map to better suit Halo 3. Whilst not then a completely accurate remake this reiteration could lend it self well to the confines of Halo 3's altered gameplay in comparison to Halo 2. I'm not sure as to whether you have any other remakes, but this looks solidly forged and most definitely gives me the impression of a Sanctuary remake. I'll be sure to keep this in hand when testing out some of the better remakes released recently.

And a final note to Dar Ice, seeing as the time you made the comment you had not yet played this, how would you know such as this does not have a Sanctuary feeling eh? It might just as well play exactly like it for a Halo 3 adaptation.

Thanks alot for your point of view i really am greatful that people care
about the hard work that is put in to maps. This map really is "just as well played exactly like it for a Halo 3 adaptation". Thanks alot man

I like how you put it on the ground level. That adds a unique feel to the way sanctuary worked. I don't know how being above ground will affect it though. Good Job though, most of the features look very accurate.

4/5

This picture is very telling as to why this doesn't work in terms of a "remake". I totally understand and agree that you have to adapt the H2 maps to the H3 style of play, but this map should have been made in the crypt. It would eliminate the instinct from the player with the sniper rifle to head out to the dunes where you are and just start picking people off. Your structures look fairly accurate (I'll look closer when I actually am able to get into the map itself), but the ability to head out to the dunes and effectively out of the normal play area of the H2 Sanctuary is a huge flaw that you really should address.

I would make it in the crypt but it just doesnt fit the feel for sanctuary because there was dirt and sand in sanctuary and there was a sky. Im pretty sure that it wouldnt go from the surface to underneath the ground lol. that wouldnt make sense. Plus people
already made this map under in the crypt and i dont want to remake something that somone
already did.

Be that as it may, there are still some serious issues with this map. All your gametypes (with the exception of Slayer) are broken, including the CTF you had set up. The default flag setup is still there as well as the ones that you incorrectly placed as Neutral, which pretty much kills it (all of the other gametypes are left to the default Sandbox setup as well). Starting spawns are left in their default location as well, which isn't quite so bad but you do fall a little bit when you spawn. Respawn areas are incorrectly set up as well; you need to designate a team area for CTF, not just leave them as neutral in the bases. This would allow the opposing team to spawn in your base and make and easy flag capture. You need to expand your respawn area size as well, they cover too little of an area. In fact, one of them only covers one spawn point. I'd recommend reading up in the Forging 101 section and also taking a look at some of Bungie's default game setups.

As for the map itself, besides the center area which looks pretty cool, I really don't like the layout. There are no shotgun tunnels, the sniper positioning doesn't feel right, and the bases seem too small. I appreciate the attempt and I know that it's difficult to do an exact replica, but I really feel that this map needs a ton of work to be played similarly to the map that you intended to emulate.
