Alpine

Alpine
Version 2
Hello all.
For all of you who have been following this map loyally from the get go, I apologize for how long it took me to get it out, but here it finally is. Alpine is my 1v1 / 2v2 / small FFA map located over the back ledge of Avalanche. Because the entire map is built over the abyss, it is possible for the player to fall to their death, or in some instances, even play the ball when needed.
The map utilizes 4 separate floors, each colour coded to their respective heights on the map. (The order being: grey, green, blue, red respectively.) The plethora of different floors on the map allow for a semi-huge feel to such a small map, and allows for slower gameplay than one may expect. Also on the map are 2 separate lifts that allow you to traverse the map more efficiently, with the cost of giving away your location to your opponent (s).

Weapons On Map:
  • 5 Battle Rifles
  • 2 Carbines
  • 1 Sniper Rifle
  • 4 Frags (2 sets)
  • 4 Stickes (2 sets)
  • 1 Active Camouflage
Gametypes:
  • Commune 1v1(For 1v1’s / 2v2 Slayer)
  • Alpine Ball (For 2v2 Ball)
And, with that said, let me introduce Alpine:

Overview:

Green Floor View 1:

Blue Floor View 1:

I would love to thank everyone that has helped me in the making of this map from the very beginning. Without you and your support through it, this map would have never been finished. Specifically, I hugely appreciate the help from Bnasty, Yourself, Tak, and PulseKiller, who helped near the completing stages to forge parts of the map, along with the input and feedback that came throughout the map making process from Hezbolla Hector, Ciabatta, ZoroSeerus, Jackass Jon, and many more.
And, on a final note, below is a signature made by the wonderful CE_DiZaNy. Anyone who would like to support the map is more than welcome to place this in their forum sig :)

Enjoy guys,
<3 nicka

EDIT:
Big thanks to Phreakie for making a map introduction video for Alpine.

Wow nobody's replied on this yet??? This looks really good. I love how the boxes are certain colors in certain places. Must've been a bitch to color code them. I really like the layout and how it's on Avalanche. The forging looks smooth and the only complaint is the spawn times on the camo and sniper. I think they should both be 120 sec or one be 120 and one be 90 sec. They're definitely too short from the size of the map. IDK though. I'll definitely give this a look.

Semi-Huge

I really like the term semi-huge. It seems to fit this map. Great job on the color coding. It probably helps in figuring out where you are when you spawn. Everything look very nicely merged especially for a floating map.

wow, this looks great, good use of colour coding and it makes the map feel big, which is good, judging from the pics there isnt anything you could improve, this a great looking map!

Around 5000 of my games have been custom, or forge ^. Maps: Galleon - Contribution - Docks V2 - Ascent - Deserted - MLG Sacred - Shaded Speedway - Shadow Sands

Thanks for all the feedback so far.
I'm glad that the first impressions are good.

As for the Camo/Sniper spawn timers, the way they are really help the flow around the map, as players are constantly moving from the power position (aka. the red floor) to all the way at the bottom for the camocoming up every minute.
It kinda makes it so you can't just stay on top all game, and without movement around the map to get camo, you would be at a disadvantage.

The sniper has no spare clips (i know, i probably should have specified), so in a 2v2, the sniper still doesn't play an abnormally outstanding role.

I will definitely give the longer respawn times a try, thanks a lot for the suggestions guys

Wow, this map is awesome.I wish you could have posted this a couple of weeks ago, Im afraid it isnt going to get much attention with the Sandbox spam(lol). I really like the layout you got going here, its very creative. 10 extra points for putting a weapon list in the post, just give us a respawn rate and a spare clip amount with it. I will DL this and check it out. This seems like a very original Avalanche map, havent seen too many like this.

EDIT: Okay, I read the posts and saw the deal about the respawn times, if he is asking you to bump the times up to 120, then they are too short. Neither Sniper or Camo should be lower than 120, depending on the size of the map. This one being so small, respawn times could work a little low but I honestly think 90 is too short.

The map layout is pretty basic for a multi-level map. But its a good one, that works well with gameplay. Different ways to get to each level via ramps and man cannons make difficult to camp effectively. A basic weapon set, but again, taking things back to the basics are sometimes the best ways to find the best systems. The weapons fit well with the map. I like the respawns times as is because they keep the players moving up and down the map, giving the map better flow. Overall a decent map that I would probably not keep in the hard drive if it wasn't for the beautiful aesthetics displayed in this map. The different color floors are genius and quite beautiful, as is the interlocking. Everything is super smooth. I really regret you waiting until the mythic map pack release to post this map due to the fact that it won't get as much attention now, but true gamers will give this one a go. JimP Factor: 97% An excellent map.

I actually posted this a couple of days ago over on the MLG forums, and didnt get around to posting the map here until just recently, since the site was down.

I honestly tried to get this map out way before the release of sandbox, but that didn't work out due to a couple of personal things that happened within this project.
I hope that the fact that it's not on Sandbox doesn't deter you from playing it.

This looks sick man, I love what you have done to the floors. You have made each floor have a different color...very organized...I love it.

I bet 2v2 would be a blast on Alpine. It seems that floating maps on Avalanche are rising. I'm not sure about this suggestion, but maybe you could have though of placing a Mauler somewhere and set it to no spare clips and have a long respawn time.

We would definitely love to see more from you. A great job indeed.

Awesome man, hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to play.

Yea, 2v2 is definitely a blast, and if i may, i would definitely reccomend 2v2 ball.
Since it's off of the cliff, you have the ability to play ball, etc. and adds for some interesting gameplay
