X-Fire

X-Fire
Can you avoid the SHOCK & the X-Fire?

Created by: Hljl Krnsk and Renn75
Inspired by: Halo CE; Boarding Action

Supported Gametypes:
Slayer using a Custom King of the Hill - See description below.

Description:

Background Story
Moffett Federal Airfield was not only a great scientific community (they were in the process of perfecting teleportation devices) but also supported the Anti-Spacecraft Missile Defense Network for the entire North American West Coast. A Brute regiment had been sent to take out the barrage of weaponry that was decimating their fleet on this side of the planet. During the incursion a small force of high level scientist and soldiers had holed up in Hangar 3 to defend the power supply to the Network.

The Grunts had inadvertently electrified most of the floor grids of the hangar; cutting the building in half with their effort to knock out the power to the Anti-Spacecraft Missile Defense Network. As the soldiers and armed scientists tried to hold out for reinforcements OR extraction from the doomed base, the Jackals had laid down deadly crossfire in an effort to support the Brutes as they organized an assault to exterminate this small band of resistance and take out the last set of generators on the other side of the building.

The few extracted survivors of this skirmish were awarded the X-Fire Medal of Valor. Their few extra hours of holding the last set of generators had saved Seattle and Portland from being completely destroyed. The ceremony was held on the ashes of what was San Francisco.

Re: X-Fire

It looks and sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I can't see anything being really effective at that range other than the sniper rifle. However, it could be cool for SWAT.

Re: X-Fire

Those screen shots really don't do anything for the map, besides the fact that almost your entire description was a backing story.. So.. what type of weapons are in this map, where are they, any secrets? Any interesting things about this map.. Unique things about this map? Man you should change your description to better suit the map, not the backing story. Also add better screen shots, I don't think taking a picture of the wall with the words Danger on it is very helpful.

Kill many, and you're a conqueror
Kill them all ... Ooh ... Oh you're a God!

Re: X-Fire

So this is basically a Slayer match where you cannot go into the center? That might be cool. It's like making a death pit without actually dieing. This could either be a really great map or a really frustrating map. I'd like to see some screenshots from test games. Did you test it? How does it play? Describe the feel of the game.

I like the idea, but I can't tell how well it was executed with this map. Convince me.

Re: X-Fire

This comes across as Boarding Action, which isn't a bad thing. I've been telling people who were wanting help making a remake of that map to do this with a KOTH gametype just like this, but no one ever did to my knowledge. I'll check this out...

Re: X-Fire

Thanks everyone for the input. Renn and I have started to revamp the posting. We have done some work and will be getting a list of weapons and some better screenshots, along with a short "walk through" video that will be available via a link. We do appreciate the input, and plan to address it shortly.

We have tested the map over multiple games, and have found it to play well. Some games have gone quickly, others have lasted longer. Yes, the sniper rifle is the main weapon on this map, and there are five of them scattered around. But, there have also been many close up battles as people move around.

It is based on Boarding Action.(It is not a re-make, but a re-imagining of it.) Since Bungie hasn't given us a "death zone", this was the next best thing we could think of, and it seems to work. People don't want to go into the hill.

We also wanted to move the action up, rather then out. There are many wonderful maps in foundry, and we love to play them, but so many use the floor, and maybe one level up. We went for four levels of game play. Something different.

Again, thanks for the input, changes to description coming soon.
