Morlock
Hello Forge Hub Community,
The following Blackout Map Variant is entitled
"Morlock" a reference to the Sub-Terranean Post-Human Species populating the underground of H.G.Wells' book"The Time Machine" that came out from the depths to feast upon the surface dwellers, as most of the expanded areas are below the permanent structures of the map and tend to be a bit darker than the top ground.
The expansions on the map are in the form of a large platform behind and far below the central structure, smaller platforms to the left and right of the Air-Lift structure, a platform below and to the right of the BR tower,
and numerous ramps connecting the platforms to the rest of the map and wrapping around the permanent structures.
All Platforms and Ramped are interlocked making a smooth playing environment with little chance of bouncing inexplicably to ones doom. After all, grenades, fusion cores and overzealous leaps fill in that department just fine.
Various weapons have been added to Morlock. All Dual-Wield weapons are present to different degrees 3 SMGs, 2 Pistols, Plasma Pistols and Rifles, Spikers, and 1 Mauler. Two sorely missed carbines also grace the flat surfaces of Morlock. A Flamethrower lies behind the Air-Lift structure I just felt it was an underused element of the game and wanted to see some fire. There are plenty more weapons to be found all around the map as well
There are 3 man-cannons placed on the extra areas to allow faster access to different permanent areas on the map since one finds it easy to descend to those new areas. One to the left of the Air-Lift structure aiming anywhere from the side ramp, to the front doorway, and 2 on the large lower platform one aiming up to the center platform or sniper tower at an angle, and the other towards the corner ramp heading out of the lower air-lift structure. Both the Air-Lift associated man-cannons grant access to power weapons with a short clip if one jumps to reach them (Right=Fuel Rod, Left=Rockets, no reload)
I intended the map to play host to mostly Slayer type Games, Team or otherwise, One Sided Team (or FFA) Objectives, and can be quite entertaining with infection if that's you're thing, although I updated the map for all the standard game types, so Assault-VIP. I have not tested it with any specific custom game types but have completed brief run-throughs of the default game types. Game play can vary quite a bit depending on the population of the game. with 4 or fewer, it might feel a bit too vast, but as you add bodies it starts to run smoothly. Ideal might be 10-12 but don't let that stop you from letting the party fill up.
Thanks for your time, and I hope you enjoy this map. I would appreciate to hear constructive feedback particularly in the weapon placement. So if it interests you please download
Morlock, I feel it will be worth your time.
