8-14 players recommended(even teams)
Creator: rifte gifle

Shortly after recovering the engineer, the UNSC believe they may have found a way to fully tap into the covenant battle net. The mission will require transporting an asset , an engineer otherwise known as Virgil. The primary objective was to get to the ruins of a covenant HQ(headquarters) used many years ago during the beginning of the war; problem is it's in uncharted territories. The planet is not in human controlled space, and there is little intel on this location. A risky operation, but the payoff could be tremendous. Transport the asset to the HQ, and let it find a way to complete it's mission. The base was believed to be abandoned, and from here it goes from an already dicey mission to disaster. Brutes still inhabit this HQ, and the asset's unprepared marine bodyguards were easily overwhelmed. No one knew how or why the covenant still inhabited this area, but the priority now was to get the asset back to safety. With most of the marines killed, the surviving members of the platoon drove the asset back to the landing zone in a hog, but realized they were being followed by the brutes. In a desperate attempt to fight back, the single remaining warthog was destroyed during the confrontation along with the lives of the remaining marines. The high priority asset is now stuck down there with brutes who want it dead. With little time and options left, it's time to call in the helljumpers.
Objective
The objective is for the ODST is to protect the asset and keep him alive. At 3 minutes, a transport hornet will spawn on the left side of the mini base and using that, fly the VIP to the destination point in the sky.
Hornet pad with(3 minutes)
Remember if your hornet is destroyed, you haven't necessarily lost yet. If Virgil is stil alive when the hornet is destroyed, do not let the enemy gain points by killing him. Stay and protect him till the round ends.

UNITS
ODST

As an orbital drop shock trooper, you are the best the UNSC has to offer. It is your job to protect the asset, and get him the hell off this planet. Although generally weaker and cannot take as much damage as the brutes, staying near the asset will give you shields much like the enemies'. The LZ is supplied with limited weapons, but stick together, and you'll pull through.
Virgil
Although you have your own set of shields, you can't deal damage for crap, and you'll die on your own. Stay with the ODST, and help them out as much as possible by using your plasma pistol to take out covenant vehicles and chipping away at shields. Just remember to keep your head down. While you are near your ODST bodyguards, you will supply them with certain things they normally do not have. Remember that you must be the same or close elevation as the ODST to give them these traits. For example, if an ODST is on the ground, and you are on the top floor of the base, they will not gain the traits.
Proximity Traits(30m)
-ODST gain overshields
-ODST gain ability to drive vehicles
-ODST gain radar
Spawns
As the defenders, you will spawn either on the ground or in the drop pod area in the sky. If the VIP spawns in the drop pod area, he MUST drop(honour rule).
Drop pods
There are 4 drop pods, and a maximum of 4 people will spawn in the drop pod area. To activate the drop pods, simply walk in and you will pick up an overshield causing you to drop. If you really want to stay in it, playing online usually causes it to glitch and not work properly. Stand still, and right in the middle and it should stay together. There is an area that will cause you to slow down in midair and there's a high chance of being splattered by your own drop pod, or worse splattering others.
Betrayed.
Objective
The humans have something they should not. Kill the engineer and do not let it escape.
Brute Classes
All brutes have normal shields, brute chieftains have 500% damage resistance and shields.
All brutes have 10 seconds to pick up weapons before pickup is disabled.
All brutes spawn with spike grenades(except the stalker who spawns with a flame grenade)
All brutes can drive vehicles(except the chieftain)
All brutes have rechargeable shields(except for chieftain)
Brute regular

You will spawn with a wide variety of weapons. Remember that you have 10 seconds to choose.
You will also spawn close to the vehicles. If there are no vehicles, the teleporters to the right will lead you directly onto the battlefield. Wraith and banshee spawn later into the game, choppers spawn at start.
Brute Stalker
Invisible and deadly, you will spawn with a mauler with no extra clips and a single flame grenade. This is a very useful class for sneaking behind enemy lines and assassinating the VIP. The active camo is set on instant respawn so you will always at least have invisibility if the grenade and mauler have not spawned.

Jump pack Brute
You will spawn next to a flare, brute shot, and spiker. The one noticeable trait for this class is where the teleporter leads you. You will start off by jumping right into the battlefield from a platform high in the sky, making for an easy and quick method of getting the humans from the back.
Brute Chieftain
The most powerful unit, brute chieftains can easily kill a group of ODST's clumped together. He will be gold on the field making him easy to spot, and without overshields, the ODST will die from a single hit. Brute chieftains do not regain shields, fire at him together to drain its shields quickly.
Spawns

The covenant spawn here. They must wait here for 30 seconds, and a kill ball will then spawn and kill you. You don't lose points when you die, and you'll respawn with whichever class you spawn with. To keep you occupied is a golf ball. Enjoy!

Creator's comments
Now before you say, "Oh great another firefight map", This is a map I've been working for a fairly long time now, even before ghost merging. I stopped this for a while and decided to start it back up mainly from ODS3's multiple mixed reviews. After playing it enough times, I realize now why the reviews were so mixed and am now more on the hate side of the ODS3 spectrum. I tried to go for a new approach on a human vs covenant survival gametype. At first, I was going to make it infection FIREFIGHT with multiple difficulties, but realized that it would be ODS3 all over again, which is what I was trying to avoid and completely scrapped that gametype. Next, came the idea with the spartan which at first seemed okay but overall was not an incredibly fun experience. One day my friend named l6ExplodinCars commented on how my map resembled the last level of Halo 3:ODST, and suggested that I turn the spartan into Virgil instead to make it seem more like the ODST campaign. A lot of Virgil's traits could also be implemented as well, which sounded like fun. From there, I applied the escape feature myself to make it seem more like the campaign, and after some testing I realized this is definetly the way to go. And so you know... this is NOT an attempt at recreating firefight. The first thing I did when making this map was find people who hated ODS3, and forced them to play this. Most of them hated the spartan and FIREFIGHT version, but were actually pleased with the Virgil variant. If you didn't enjoy this map, I recommend playing it a second game. The first round takes some adjusting, but as the second one starts it's easy to get used to.
Thanks for reading - rifte gifle
Oh, and may I suggest driving vehicles off of the drop pod ship regardless if you end up liking this map or not? A bundle of mindless fun... especially with the wraith.

Also, if this gametype really gets popular, would you like me to make a guide on how to make your very own 'Asset maps?' Yes or no?

did you create some sort of barrier, possibly invisible ones, to block the normal map off, or do you assume that it is such a long walk that you would die on the way from an enemy? also is there a destination, or do you keep Virgil alive for the entire round?

I suspect you didn't actually read, and skipped ahead to the video.. but no normal sandbox is not blocked off and Virgil's objective is to reach the destination point in the sky with the hornet which spawns after 3 mins. If the hornet gets fragged, then your objective is to keep virgil alive so the other team doesn't gain points for kiling him. But yes, if you go running out like that without you're VIP you're basically screwed. Oh, and you'd be leaving your VIP behind to die as well.

Soooo many testing sessions... anywho this map imo makes ods3 look like junk. The classes are balanced, and there's definetly a theme of 'stay close to your VIP!' Everytime someone tried to spawn kill, they'd always get raped. I freaking love how high the drop pods are... too bad they don't work well online but it doesn't really matter to me. They're better than the one for ODS3. I like your choice of music for te ending of the video.. whaat's the name of the song? I remember it from the H3 main menu.
Gameplay: 5/5, Although most of the combat is based on protecting the VIP inside the buildings on the left side of the base, it will sometimes get repetitve if that's the main strategy. But how the game plays is different every time because you don't know what enemies you'll get since they random spawn. Best covenant vs humans game imo. most of them aare too overpowering and humans get all power weapons, and it's ridiculously cheap, but this one is even. The older versions were impossible to survive, but this is the best difficulty for 6-14 people. My fav is 5v5.
Aesthetics:5/5, nothing more really needs to be said. Everything looks awesome.
Replayability:5/5, plenty of replayability, if you lose it makes you want to try again, if you win, you'll be thinking brinig it. I just don't like playing as Virgil though you feel very vulnerable.
This is a great map, worth a download. The only people I can see hating this are the ones who run out and die and complain everytime they die.

Wow I thought you'd never post this! :P
Anyways, I loved testing this with you guys, the gameplay was absolutely top-notch!
The whole map itself would make for a great Firefight map. I also love how chaotic it can get with a lot of people, making it a great choice for a game night (hint hint) and I would gladly play it again whenever possible! :D
over 9000/10 and a vote for this to be featured!!!

WowE. You really pulled this off! (If you did) you did a great addition scene to the halo3: ODST story. But, i want to know a little bit more about your gametype and try to catch a game or two on this. Great job.

The song is called "Roll Call" from the Halo 3 OST (Original soundtrack)

Feature>>>Maybe...
I haven't played it yet, but by the looks of it, it pretty much looks balanced and I would have to say everything except the choppers are good. There weren't any choppers in ODST, just ghosts, wraiths, and banshees on the covenant side. The ghost merging makes this map look really good. Congrats.
Edit: Damn!!!! How did I forget that! Sorry about that. They're in one level, lost platoon I think? Ignore my random outbursts of stupidity. stupidity. It looks like someone has brought uniqueness to ODST gametypes. :D

Choppers were used to balance the gameplay for the brutes and additional transport. There were no BR's in ODST, but I used it for gameplay purposes. I did try a magnum + SMG combo, and it failed. Hell, there aren't even any magnums on the map because nobody wanted to use it.
Gameplay > halo story accuracy.
And so you know, there are choppers in halo 3 ODST.

MAP WIN. I haven't played it yet, but it looks epic. One thing: Are even teams recommended? In the video it seemed like there were less ODST...
