The American Dream

Posted 08-28-2008 at 03:16 PM by squidhands
"There's a reason why education sucks, and it's the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It's never gonna get any better, don't look for it, be happy with what you've got.

It's because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners, now; the big, wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. Politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own YOU. They own everything; they own all the important land, they own and control the corporations, they've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the State Houses, the City Halls, they've got the judges in their back pocket, and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all the news and information you get to hear.

They've got you by the balls.

They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else. But I'll tell you what they don't want: They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that, that doesn't help them. They don't want people smart enough to sit around the kitchen table to figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard thirty fucking years ago. They don't want that.

You know what they want? They want OBEDIENT WORKERS. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with lower pay, longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now, they're coming for your social security money. They want your fucking retirement money, they want it back so they can give it to all their criminal friends on Wall Street.

And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all from you sooner or later, 'cuz they own this fucking place. It's a big club, and you ain't in it! You and I are not in The Big Club. By the way, it's the same Big Club they use to beat you over the head with all day long, with what they tell you what to believe. All day long, beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think, and what to buy. The table is tilted folks, the game is rigged.

But nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care...

Good, honest, hard working people-blue collar, white color, it doesn't matter what color shirt you have on-continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don't give a fuck about them. They don't give a fuck about you. At all.

And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care...

That's what the owners count on: the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white, and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes every day. Because the owners of this country know the truth:

It's called The American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Very fucking true.

I recently read this book by Al Gore, titled 'The Assault on Reason.'
He talks about a lot of this stuff, and how fucked up our nation is and has been for the past 50 years or so.

An interesting theory he has, about one of the main causes for all the problems in this country is this: TV and Radio.

This country, and everything that was written in the constitution, took for granted an intelligent populace and open forum for communication. With the death of the newspaper as this nation's main source of information, this 'open forum' became closed, and discussion became a one-way street.

Think about it. With television and radio being this country's main source of information and political discussion, it's virtually impossible to hear back from the community. Big corporations have bought out and control the airwaves, and everything that's put (or more importantly, NOT put) in front of the American audience everyday.

We're being fed lies and made to believe them. And yeah, the education in this country is a major problem contributing to all of these problems we have.

Anyway, longest blog post reply ever - but you should really read that book. It's very good.

EDIT: I certainly will.

Well well George Carlin. Once again he sums up my thoughts on a subject completely. When I try to alert my 'family' of exactly how were being screwed over spied on etc etc. They don't want to listen claiming they have 'better things to do'. I hope that one day all these idiots will wake up and smell the corruption. After that a mob forms around wall street hacking down the doors to the central bank. But that will never happen, as long as everyone is too 'busy' and entertained to wake the fuck up. But of course thats exactly how they want it to be. As long as people don't wake up than there in the clear to do whatever they damn well please. Which is bad.....very very very bad. And now while everyone's down there making machines to help control the people further. Were entering the age of 'never ending control'. Because soon nobody will be able to stand up to these fat banking bastards. And once the general population is no longer needed (about the time we get fully funtioning robots). Than thats it who the hell needs people anymore? They sure don't then they will find a way to kill off everybody, hell im sure that they already have one and there just waiting to use it.

I have seen Zeitgeist, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if all of what they claim is true. It's been proven that the United States was well aware of the impending attack on Pearl Harbor, but let it happen because they knew it would spurn the US into getting involved. I think Bush tried the same strategy, but since he and all his henchmen are worthless pieces of shit, they didn't quite achieve the same effect with Americans. It's always been about fear as a tool to control.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, education on a state level (average) is the source of about $700 million worth of the budget. Followed by public health at a resounding $330 million in expenditure. We drop all the money we can into it. We have lazy, self-centered, populous that do not care what happens in the next 10 years of their life, so long as the get their A-L-C-H-O-H-O-L.

As for corporations owning all the good land, says who? Carlin? Has he been to a state park, has he seen all that we have preserved?

Pretty much...the goal of business is to make money, and the goal of unions is to help preserve the rights of the worker, while occasionally taking a few bribes.

Why should they? Your one out of a thousand. They can replace you. That doesn't mean they've lost their humanity, it just means that the chairman of AT&T would be attending funerals everyday and never get any work done. It's hard to connect on a personal level when you become larger.

I've seen the dream fulfilled many times, but not everyone should expect it unless they are willing to work for it.

Maybe there should be maximum term limits for every political office. Life-long politicians often forget about serving their country, and start serving themselves. They do whatever it takes to get re-elected. And even worse, they meet the needs of the lobbyists and not the citizens.

Meanwhile, the general public gets brainwashed by politically biased media, or lulled into complacency by news magazines and reality tv. They want us to be distracted. They want us to care about Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, Angelina Jolie, and all that other crap. They don't want us to be aware and involved. They just want us to buy, consume, and procreate; keep feeding the machine.

But as Nitrous pointed out, there does need to be a balance. Compassionate capitalism.

In response to what you posted Nitrous, let me point out that I believe that what he said was meant to be cathartic, not truth to the way things really are. It's social commentary, and while truth lies in it, it shouldn't be taken as reality. Carlin would have found true irony in someone thinking of one of his stand up routines was being taken seriously.

Furious has it; the masses want to be entertained and distracted. If not, there wouldn't be a market for reality TV and People magazine.

Too bad I can never compete with the knowlege on these types of topics. I tend to think of the United States as a more consumerous China. The only big diferences about us and them is that we have diplomacy, and we have freedom of speech. However, we aren't very noticeable when we do speak freely because of capitalistic media. But hey, I'm only a thirteen year old that, "Watches too many cartoons."

Never mind, I'm probably not making any sense. I don't type my feelings very well.

The truth behind that monologue is really becoming painfully obvious the more I open my eyes to it.

Like Nitrous said, though, it's not so cut-and-dry. We're not dealing with absolute pure evil here.

But it is pretty bad. I've harped on the profit motive a few times in other places, so I'll leave it at that.

RIP George

No, I think unlike Rome who grew weaker over time America will fall because democracy will fail us. The reason? Our treasury. I think the bigges way to affect voters is with their pocketbooks and as such slyer and slyer politicians will use that to gain votes. The end result will be an ecomonic downfall because intsead pursuing the American Dream of hard work equaling great succes it will be easier to vote for handouts. Once people vote for the treasury democracy will fail. That's one if the biggest things I see in this election. What is going to happen when either candidate comes to office, will there be a redistribution of wealth? What will become of us.
