1v1 Conflict Results & Wrap-up

Results

It seems a long time since the 512 eager Conflict entrants suited up and began the first round of a journey that culminated in our epic final showdowns last week. It's been over 2 months, and during that time many have fallen by the wayside as the contest sorted the finest slayers from those who took up arms way back in August. Intent on cementing the final round as the height of competitive Halo, the chosen few who remained had to fight it out for 5 games, as opposed to the 3 employed in recent rounds. Many have been waiting eagerly for the results, and for those who haven't been keeping up with the match threads themselves, here's a breakdown of what went on in the culmination of Forge Hub's 1v1 Conflict.

Winners Bracket Finals

The two warriors who remained undefeated going in to the final round; the only two with a shot at the coveted first place, were Shanon and Dewski. Both came in to the Finals confident after impressive performances in the tournament so far, and the interest surrounding this match up was evident as soon as the match thread itself was posted. Ten pages later and we finally have our answer. Below you can find links to all 5 games on Bungie.net so you can see for yourself how the final shots fired in the 1v1 Conflict went down.

Game 1:
Shanon: 13
Dewski: 15
Game 2:
Shanon: 19
Dewski: 11
Game 3:
Shanon: 20
Dewski: 9
Game 4:
Shanon: 12
Dewski: 13
Game 5:
Shanon: 13
Dewski: 15

Though Shanon managed to outdo Dewski in terms of overall slaying, it's wins that count here, and Dewski killed when it counted to clinch victory in what looks to have been an epic showdown, truly befitting of a final round. Now that all is said and done, here's what the final placings for the Winners Bracket look like:

1st Place: Dewski, who takes home:
  • 3200 Xbox 360 Live Points (4 Arcade Games; 6 HD movies; 10 SD movies)
  • Xbox 360 Game (Halo 3: ODST; CoD: MW 2; Forza 3; Assassin's Creed 2; Left4Dead 2; Dragon Age: Origins; Fifa 10)

Losers Bracket Finals

There may not be the glamour of the Winners Bracket Finals at play here, but the first place spot in the Losers Bracket was still a hotly contested prize. Especially in the literal sense, since a first place finish in the Losers Bracket includes prizes which follow suit of those from the Winners Bracket above. The two embattled fighters who made it this far were Viper Pro and Hertz382, both of whom were intent on claiming the LB Champion crown. As before, you can see how each of the games in the final round panned out in detail with the links below:

Game 1:
Viper Pro: 20
Hertz382: 9
Game 2:
Viper Pro: 14
Hertz382: 18
Game 3:
Viper Pro: 17
Hertz382: 13
Game 4:
Viper Pro: 15
Hertz382: 14

Whilst this match may not have gone to 5 games, it was a closely fought battle by all accounts, with the final game coming down to the wire at the end, a draw looking like a strong possibility in the closing seconds. Here's how the Losers Bracket final placings look at the close of the tournament:

1st Place: Viper Pro, who takes home:
  • Bryan Simon CD
  • KontrolFreek FPS Freek
  • TheControllerShop Controller Grips
  • TheControllerShop Window Sticker
  • Custom Title

2nd Place: Hertz382

3rd Place: Chipsinabox

4th Place: JBRogers

Thank you

Our congratulations go out to all the winners in both the Winners and Losers bracket. But, as with any tournament, there were many other people who were instrumental in making sure that this tournament ran smoothly. First off, Forge Hub would like to thank our various sponsors for providing such diverse and desirable prizes to the 1v1 Conflict. Marissa's Bunny
Congratulations to the winner of the Forge Hub Conflict. Thanks to all of the rad Halo fans who made the Halo series so much more than just a game. I'm happy to donate Halo Wars to the winner with only one small favor to ask of the Forge Hub community: if you could just visit the Marissa's Bunny website. Marissa was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms and even a small donation could make Marissa's life a little easier. Keep in mind that Marissa's dad is not only a gamer, but a huge Halo fan like you and I. If you are unable to make a donation then even a prayer could make a difference. Thanks!

Massive thanks to all of you for helping make this 1v1 Conflict that much more special, and we're sure our prize winning entrants will agree with us.

Big thanks also go out to all those who worked on the maps and Conflict gametype used in the tournament. To make a tournament that was not only competitive, but rooted firmly in the fertile soils of Forge Hub, we had to ensure the core quality of the battlegrounds to be used at every stage. The tireless work of those who built and tested the maps ensured that participants were given the most polished environments possible in which to do battle, we couldn't have done it without you, guys.

But lastly, our thanks go out to you, the members of Forge Hub, for your participation, support and general interest in the 1v1 Conflict. It is the participants and supporters who really make a competition what it is, and this tournament has brought some of the tightest, most gripping and hardest fought competition ever seen on Forge Hub. This is all down to you guys, and we want to give our most sincere thanks to all who took part, or even just took an interest in the 1v1 Conflict.

I would just like to say that the tourney was awesome and just fun.
Make sure to give a big thanks to all of the staff for their contributions and also to the sponsors.

But, I personally would like to send my apologies to my fans.

I'm sorry that I've failed you Forgehub, I was never doing this for the prizes. Hell, I don't even really want the prizes that much, I was doing mostly for you guys. To show that Forgehub isn't just Forge community, rather, a diverse community that's constantly growing and helping each other out. But now that I've failed you and me, I'm striving to better my skill and build upon my weaknesses. It is in my failure, that I will surely triumph over my future opponents. As of right now I am not up to my standards, skill wise.

I'll be back in a month or so, gave my 360 away for charitable reasons.

Excellent contest guys. It truly is an awesome site so see so many people come together in a competitive contest and still enjoy themselves without speuwing competitive, insulting slurs at yor opponent.

My only question is: What will happen to FH now?

How much I wanted to find Viper in the last 10 seconds of the final match is beyond imaginable. I was so mad when he hid. I wanted to see and spawn kill him so that we could of had a 5th match. But I would of done the same thing so, I can't blame him.
