Forge Hub vs Halo 3 Mythbusters
There's a lot of hearsay tossed back and forth within the Halo community, a world ripe with myths to be busted, so to speak. A special few will of course rise to this challenge, and they call themselves, rather befittingly, the
Halo 3 Mythbusters. Our 2 communities recently locked horns in a battle of epic proportions. Well, sort of.

Hehe, dirty jokes...
Things looked sketchy as this SNF got underway, initial test games were laggy and the H3MB team had a little trouble with no shows. But things came together as they quickly found replacements. This, as it turns out, did not bode well for the likes of us. Game one, played on
Lateralus by
HezbollaHector and one of our Premium members,
Adelyss, started off pretty laggy as well. This seemed to resolve itself through the course of the game, but by the time the fog had lifted, we turned around to find ourselves 1-0 down. but H3MB rode the wave of opportunity and continued to control the map with an iron fist, comfortably taking home their second flag of the game. When the third flag was rather rudely pilfered from our base, Team HLG Pr0 went all out to keep ourselves in the game. A clutch last second triple kill to stop the flag in the enemy base brought hopes of a counter cap, but H3MB were having none of it, promptly taking back their base and securing the final flag capture to take game one.
Final Score:
H3MB: 3
Team HLG Pr0: 0
(G'wan, get!)

Game 2: Team BRs on Ameliorate
Feeling more than a little caught off guard, and keen to shake off the 3-0 sweep in game one, we bolstered ourselves and headed in to game two, played on
Ameliorate by
ChAoTiC. This headstrong attitude didn't last long though, in fact it was pretty much off spawn that we started spreading out somewhat aimlessly, except for myself who was left staring at "that massive thing which looks like a cathedral". Trust me, it was cool. Needless to say this Pro starting strat was not emulated by H3MB, who quickly established vehicle dominance at the start and continued in much the same breath for the rest of the game. Occasionally we got sick of spawning, instantly getting gunned down by a rampant Hog, then going round for a nice cycle of rinse and repeat, deciding to try our hand at this vehicle nonsense that all the neighbours are raving about. Somehow this never got very far, H3MB had excellent Splaser control to back up their wheeléd behemoths and our attempts at Hog and Hornet pushes alike proved fruitless. H3MB had come to play, and two games later they emerged, all but unscathed, as the victors.
Final Score:
H3MB: 50
Team HLG Pr0: 28
(Ha! You missed! Oh wait...)

Game 3: Team Snipperz on Projection
Despite the winner having already been decided, both teams agreed that game three was to be played anyway. Although this was far from an even series, both teams were enjoying things and the night was still young, we figured a little
more frantic slaughter couldn't do any harm. Game three was played on
Projection by the leader of the H3MB team himself,
padres1944, Insane remaining true to form and throwing down for a little sniper oriented fun. We knew we'd lost the SNF, but that didn't matter. This was for retribution. This was for honour. This was, as it turned out, all for nothing. H3MB were not taking this victory lap lightly, and cruised their way to a second steaktacular and a 3-0 sweep.
Final Score:
H3MB: 50
Team HLG Pr0: 30
(Umm, Insane? Hiding didn't work...)

But that's not all folks, much as this section's careless positioning at the bottom of the article would indicate to the contrary. We got beat, and beat real bad, but both teams had been having a great time throughout the evening, and aimless chatter was still rife in the post game lobby. We decided to throw on a couple more customs, purely on a lolz basis, and we thought this a nice time to bring out a surprise in the form of
Draw the Line's latest beauty,
Armageddon. We thought the element of surprise would work to our advantage, but DtL's frustrating talent for design meant that they got the idea very quickly and proceeded to deny us victory once again. Although this story is not as simple as win and lose, oh but that it were. If I may direct the attentions of the jury towards
exhibit A, a keen eye and a knowledge of the Chaos gametype will reveal an interesting discrepancy in the final scores. If this is the case, I invite you all to join me in a cry of: H4x! I have 85!
But four is such an ugly number, don't you find? We certainly did, and game five seemed like an obvious end to what had been an enjoyable if not balanced evening. Things were hardly serious at this point, and Team Fiesta was agreed as the way to go, continuing the DtL theme with a visit to
Gridlocked. Quite simply, we won, and I must actually take this opportunity to apologise to all readers. The subsidiary nature of this paragraph, indeed the larger layout and content of this entire article give the impression that Forge Hub lost. But I distinctly remember a binding agreement between all parties that the first four games were strictly for warm up purposes only, and that the fifth and final game would indeed decide the winner. In fact, now that I think about it, we couldn't have lost to H3MB because we weren't even playing them, no, we were playing The Administration Formerly Known As The USSR that week, I'm absolutely sure. If you're keen to revel in the sweet, sweet smell of victory, check out that fifth game
here.
There you have it Hubbers, we'd like to thank
Halo 3 Mythbusters once again for taking the time to thoroughly embarrass us, we all had a good laugh nonetheless. Special thanks go out to
padres1944 in particular for providing the screenshots used in this article. But don't worry, we refuse to take this continuing trend of defeat lying down, and we'll be back in 2 weeks, hopefully with epic tales of victory.
