Site Update - June 21st

Site Update, June 21st

The tents whimper as the dry cold air howls and pushes up against them. The mountain landscape shivers as more snow settles above it. Off the ridge a white fox slowly treads on the snow, pausing for just a moment. In one fluid movement his body stiffens and drops to the ground. Like springs his legs push off the ground and for just a moment he is airborne. His snout and front paws plow through the snow into an underground cave. His jaw snaps and a faint cry can be heard. Blood oozes from his mouth. The fox has caught a mouse from under the snow.

Hey Hubbers, welcome to the June 21st site update. Last week's big news was about the new Map Database, the opening of Review Hub, and various upgrades to the vbulletin. If you didn't catch us last time or if you want to sate your curiosity you can view last weeks update here. Remember folks if you have specific questions for this site update ask them here. If you don't like an idea or a piece of content please elaborate as to why.

Caption Contest Winner

The winning comment of the latest Caption Contest is
Quote:
Master Chief:So what your saying is.. Im going to hell for killing those people?
Devil: Yep
Master Chief: I thought you said there was good news?
Angel: There is.. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance with Geicko.
by Youtuber. Very nicely done, sir. There were many quality entries, but yours invoked some serious lolz! Great work!

Photographers Inc. Winner

Congratulations to Thedom for winning the recent Photographers Inc. Contest with "Fighting the Infection". There were many high quality photos and it was hard to pick a single photo to win. Be sure to give Thedom a pat on the back for his hard work. Until next time, keep takin' those screens and we're looking forward to judging next time.

Groups

If you haven't noticed, groups have been updated and outfitted with a small forum. Additionally a new option has been added to allow only the groups users to view content. Yes you read it, non-members will not be able to view your groups content. These features allow endless possibilities to what a dedicated group can achieve. We're not promising anything, but if your group proves to be a wonderful asset to the community it may get it's own sub-forum. This however, is up to the staffs discretion. We urge you to get involved with other members of the site about something you love including but not limited to forge, music, drawing, writing, or anything else you enjoy! Sharing a connection with someone is all you need. To all of the groups already established keep up the good work. To all the groups that have not been created yet, good luck.

Review Hub

Much like that of a Phoenix. Review Hub rises out its own ashes emerging as a brand spankin' new bird. Are you able to express your thoughts clear and concise? Do you see yourself as a good writer? Is judging maps a sixth sense to you? If you answered yes to any of these questions Review Hub might be for you! You can join the Review Hub here. Members who wish to request Review Hub services can do so here.

Promotions

Though you may think that we promoted these two because they're mystical creatures, think again! Rusty Eagle and Pegasi Delta return to the rank of Journalist. Look forward to these two fairy tail wonders pumping out words that'll blow you away. The mod department also just got a new shipment of chips that came in a box. That's right, you guessed it. Chipsinabox is now suited up for smacking you with infractions and warnings. You may ask yourself this from time to time, What's A Scope? Erm, well, he's a person and he has recently been giving the noble rank of loyal. May you wear it well Mr. Scope. Another animal that gets some lime light is a goat. Sure, it's not all of the goat, but let's not get into the details. Instead, just congratulate Goatnuts on his recent induction to the pub.

Ascendant Justice

I'm addicted to Halo and anything even remotely related to Halo. I bought not one Halo 3 Legendary game bundle, but two of them. I've surprised myself, because I haven't bought the books yet. I bought Halo:CE PC and Halo2 PC even though I have them for Xbox 360. Wouldn't you be surprised if I didn't play Halo, but I do. In my younger years I use to analyze trailers, game footage, and screenshots for games that have yet to come out. My goal was to try and piece together the puzzle peices to find out more about the game. However, I haven't the time to ponder all those wonderful questions about Halo 3:ODST. If you're like me or want to follow Alice down the rabbit hole. Do yourself a favor and check out Ascendant Justice's piece on Halo 3:ODST.

Feedback Questions!

So, we the staff want to hear from you the rest of the community about the Map Database. Warning the answers you must provide must be valid and be backed with thought and solid reasoning. Tell us why you like/dislike the Map Database. What could be improved about the Map Database? Is there something we can add to make the Database experience better?

Behind the Corruption

We're back again to fill you in on another staff member in this week's Behind the Corruption. This time we venture into the mind of a master writer and veteran infection genius, better known as chrstphrbrnnn. Read on to learn about what he does and what he is. You'll also learn a thing or two about how to kill a zombie, and where you should kill them. Useful stuff. Onwards!

Q. Who are you and what do you do at Forge Hub?

A. I'm chrstphrbrnnn, I'm a journalist and I write articles for the front page. I also run the community spotlight and Forge Hub Favorites.

Q. Seems like you handle a lot. What do you like to handle the most?

A. Honestly, it's not that much to do. Community Spotlight is interesting, as you get to talk to some of the most helpful members around the community. I enjoy featuring maps as well, but it's the big events like Best of Forge and contests that are the real fun to run.

Q. Totally. Speaking of Best of Forge, how did it feel when you found out you won Best Infection map?

A. It was definitely an awesome feeling. We had some pretty tight competition, and we (Sweeny and I) were worried at points, but when it comes down to it, I'm just glad people enjoyed Manifest.

Q. I'm sure your mothers are proud of you both. Rumor has it you two are working on Manifest II, could you shed some light on it?

A. As with the first one, we are trying to keep things under tight wrap. I can tell you a few things though: we aren't going to rehash the same old thing over and over again, though we are keeping what people loved. Also, plan for slightly longer rounds, and some new creative design. We have thesilencebroken working with us on this one as well, as he is the resident "real" zombie expert (Resident Evil).

Q. Aside from making and breaking zombies, what else have you been cooking up?

A. Well I've actually just completed my second of two projects to be released soon. Apart from that, I've got a new layout similar to conduction in the works.

Q. Sounds very promising. Well, to finish things up, could you give some zombie killing advice to all the readers out there?

A. Well, if you're referencing halo zombies... I'd train your Battle Rifle. To be completely honest, if you want real zombie action... play Left 4 Dead. Haha.

So remember kids, next time you feel like killing zombies, play Left 4 Dead... or Manifest. Thanks to chrstphrbrnnn for taking the time to share with all the hubbers what you're all about on Forge Hub.

Ciao Ciao

Forging is unlike any other kind of addiction is this world. It is one part creative and one part insanity. Block by block, day by day, keep building.......always build. Hem hem. Excuse me I got caught up in a trance. Stay sharp and keen and keep those forge creations coming! We out.
